R2-D2 in Duel of the Droids

R2-D2 is an astromech droid who is one of the main characters of Star Wars: Episode III – The Phantom Menace. During the Battle of Naboo, R2-D2 is one of three astromech droids assigned to repair the planet’s deflector shields. After repairing the shields, R2-D2 saves Padme Amidala’s life. Later, R2-D2 is part of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn’s party on the planet Tatooine, where he meets C-3PO. He later serves in Anakin Skywalker’s starfighter during the Battle of Naboo.

Anakin lost his navigator and sidekick R2-D2 in space. In response, Anakin is sent to rescue him. Meanwhile, the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine dispatches an elite squad of clone troopers to destroy the Separatist listening post, resulting in the destruction of the planet’s astromech plans. However, after Anakin rescues R2-D2, he is attacked by R3 who reveals itself as a Separatist spy.
