The most common questions regarding what happens when you start Journey 2 are – Does the game take all of your character’s items and weapons with it? Will your character’s level in The Lands Between be lost? Or will you be able to continue the game even after you lose access to NG+? Let’s take a look at these answers. Here are the top three answers.

Taking your character and all their weapons and items
Unlike the previous games in the series, you won’t lose your character and all their items if you die during a playthrough. The majority of the items you collect during your first playthrough will stay with your character. You can choose to start anew and use New Game Plus, which will let you start from the beginning and unlock even more optional content. For example, the Sacred Relic Sword will help you fight Godrick, while the Jar Cannon will kill Patches in a single shot.
Unlike the previous games, New Game+ is not paused once started, which is great for gamers who have just started playing. This mode features a massive world with multiple worlds within a single one. However, you must first complete the main story to access New Game+. Otherwise, you’ll have to rest at the Table of Lost Grace and re-enter the game at the start.
While you can still take your character and all their items when you start the new game, you should remember to save your progress so that you don’t have to worry about losing anything. In addition to keeping your character and all their weapons and items, you’ll also keep all of your map progression, including the fragments you collected before. Some items, like Great Runes and Stonesword Keys, will be lost during the New Game Plus. You can use your Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones to smith your weapon.
Taking your character’s level in The Lands Between
When you start playing Journey 2, you’ll have to make a character. This is mostly a cosmetic change that will change the way your character looks, but it will also change the gameplay experience. You’ll find that if you take your character’s level high enough, you can get all the bonuses available. But how can you tell what level to choose?
First, you can talk to Melina, who manifests outside the Church of Elleh. Then, a mysterious figure in a blue aura will appear, offering to be your guide. She will ask you to follow her to Erdtree, where you can turn your Runes into strength. Melina will also level your character and grant you a Spectral Steed Whistle, which summons a spectral steed.
Upon beating the Elden Ring, you’ll have the option of starting a New Game+ or continuing your current playthrough. However, you’ll have to take into account that you’ll be placing your character into the Roundtable Hold if you don’t agree to continue the game. If you refuse to do so, your character will enter the Roundtable Hold, which is the equivalent to a prison cell.
Losing access to NG+
New Game Plus (NG+) is a new feature in Journey 2 Elder Ring, which you can unlock after you have completed the game. New Game Plus runs in the Elden Ring resemble the ones you can find in Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. These run-throughs give you a fresh start and include most of the items, levels, and uncovered maps. If you’re not ready for New Game Plus, you can always go back and play it when you’re ready.
You’ll have to fast travel back to the roundtable to gain access to NG+, but the game will continue where you left off. After you’ve done so, you’ll have access to a new sword that will be useful in the early game. Alternatively, you can also go back to Roundtable Hold to begin your NG+ run. Upon returning to the roundtable, you’ll be able to see a new option for “Begin Journey 2”. Click this to start NG+ in the game.
While you can still farm for bell bearings in Elden Ring, you won’t be able to do so in NG+. The good news is that you’ll still have access to these items in NG+. But if you’re just starting the game, it’s probably a good idea to save your bell bearings for later. You might find that you’ve already upgraded your favorite weapon. Besides, bell bearings have a limited lifespan, so you might already have a lot of bells.
