In-game demotions

When you’ve beaten the Silver and Gold ranks, you might be wondering if you’re safe from decay. The answer is “no”. You’re not in danger of falling back down the ranks. Feel free to log out of the game for a season and focus on practicing your lane control mechanics. This way, you can earn back your loss-making rank. If you’re stuck at gold, try a demotion shield.

Demotion protection between divisions will be available for three games. If you’re currently in Gold II, you’ll be demoted back down to Gold III if you’re below 380 RP. Then, if you’ve reached the gold level of Challenger, you’ll automatically be demoted to Gold I. But what if you’re already Gold II? This is even harder.

Decay

To keep your current MMR from falling too low, you’ll need to take action to stop the decay. Every day, players in the lowest tiers lose LP to the highest player in the game. Players at the “apex ranks” will have 14 days to bank LP. But that time will only last a few games. After that, decay will begin again. You can do your best to prevent the decay by making the most of the remaining days in your bank.

Until the introduction of patch 4.17, players in Bronze and Silver would be demoted when they fell below zero LP. Now, the player will be placed in the next lowest division. In other words, a Platinum V player will fall into Gold I. However, players in Bronze, Silver, and Gold do not suffer from the decay. When playing in the highest divisions, players can duo with each other and keep their LP. If they are in Diamond, they can duo with players ranging from p4 to D4, and vice versa.

Promotion series

When a player reaches 100 League Points in the game, they will automatically enter a promotion series and move up one tier. Unfortunately, this method does not work for everyone. For some players, the’removal’ of the mid-rank promotion series means that they will lose more points. It is important to remember that losing to 0 LP from a loss streak is different than losing to 0 LP from a single loss.

During a promotion series, players have to win most of their games in order to advance. The games are best-of-three or five games. In addition to that, you cannot be demoted back to a previous rank until you win two consecutive games. When you lose, your LP will roll over. This means that if you lose to 0 LP, you will be demoted to the next division down. However, you can still go through a promotion series and enjoy demotion protection while you are between tiers.

Server transfers

There are several ways to demote from plat to gold, and a demotion from gold to plat can make the whole process a lot easier. It is possible to demote from one tier to another if you’ve reached 380 RP. However, this is not a good idea because you will take more losses when you go down. A good way to avoid this is to spend some time playing gold tiers.

If you’ve recently been promoted from gold to plat, you’ll have to wait a few days to see your shield expire. If you lose a match, you will go down one division. During this time, you’ll have to spend several hours playing, lowering your tier to the lowest one. When that happens, you’ll have to wait until the next time you win a game to earn back the tier. However, it’s possible to keep up your tier by playing in lower tiers to get back to plat.
