Killing Venatori
Dorian can be found in Skyhold and can be spoken to after certain major story events or sidequests. One of the main sidequests involves killing three groups of Venatori in the Hinterlands or Exalted Plains. Killing the Venatori will give Dorian a large amount of approval, so be sure to kill them! However, killing the Venatori isn’t the only way to gain Dorian’s approval; you can also get approval by speaking to Mother Giselle.
A mysterious Crow-hirer has hired Crows to kill prominent Venatori. This is rumored to be Lucanis Dellamorte, the grandson of the First Talon. He is also the cousin of the notorious Crow, the Demon. The Venatori say they won’t cower before foreign mercenaries, and they’ll fight to the death to gain approval from the Dwemer Empire.
Meeting Dorian in Fereldan’s Hinterlands
The quest Last Resort of Good Men is a side quest you can complete in Skyhold. Mother Giselle may offer you the mission if you have a high disposition with Dorian. Once you accept, you will need to inform Dorian of your intentions before meeting him. If you’re a mage, the quest will ask you to meet Dorian in Redcliffe Village, which was previously inaccessible. Alternatively, you can wait until you’ve completed In Hushed Whispers, In Your Heart Shall Burn, or In Your Soul Shall Burn to meet Dorian.
Dorian is a great magician, and he loves showing off his skills. Despite being ostracized for his sexuality, it never comes from moral wrongdoing, but rather from practical motivation to ensure that the next generation of mages is stronger than he is. Moreover, Dorian’s homeland is extremely complicated, and he is not entirely happy with his circumstances.
Telling Dorian about the letter
You can boost Dorian’s approval by telling him about the letter. You can also add extra dialog or a small scene to the conversation. This will not change the outcome of the approval later. The letter you wrote to Felix can be found in the game’s journal. After he has read it, he will be more likely to approve you. However, if you are not ready to share it right away, you can wait for some time.
While he will probably approve you no matter what, it’s worth remembering that your choices will have an impact on his behavior. Leaving the letter unanswered may make Dorian angry and make the reconciliation process more difficult. It’s best to tell him about the letter, because this will lead to the “best” ending. The original romance ended in torment, but Trespasser changed that ending.
Killing Ponchard
If you’re trying to gain Dorian’s approval, there are several ways to do this. One method is to intimidate him, which requires using an amulet and operating a war table. When he responds favorably to your intimidation, he will kiss you. Alternatively, you can kill Ponchard, resulting in his disapproval. This method will require you to have an amulet in your inventory, and you’ll need to be willing to go to Val Royeaux.
Getting Dorian’s approval is a good way to get the job done, but you can also increase his approval by killing other characters in the game. This will boost your stats, so make sure you’re trying to please the people that you like the most. Getting Dorian’s approval by killing Ponchard is a great way to get that much-needed approval! Remember to be pleasant with everyone, and don’t forget to kiss them!
Killing Ponchard will make Dorian disapprove of you
The romance in Dragon Age II is rather tame. Dorian will disapprove of you if you kill Ponchard during Magister’s Birthright, as he will be pissed off. He will even kiss the Inquisitor if you flirt with him. The romance is optional, and you can commit to it with or without nudity.
If you want to make things easier for Dorian, you can go to Solas’s quarters and speak with him about the amulet. If you kill Ponchard, he will shut down further conversation. The conversation does not affect Dorian’s approval of you, but you can get some Approval points if you talk to him about it. If you talk to Dorian in Val Royeaux, he will also defend you in the squabble with Mother Giselle. Once you’ve done this, he will kiss you and initiate a romance quest.
