Review
In this Review of Division 2 Warlords of New York, we take a look at the latest installment in the series. This latest installment is the series’ best yet, with a campaign that’s both exciting and deep. However, it’s not without its flaws. As with most games in the series, the campaign is not particularly linear, and it ends up feeling more like an inverted story sandwich.
The storyline in The Division 2: Warlords of New York revolves around bringing down a rogue First Wave Division agent Aaron Keener. While the game’s mission structure is more linear, it still features an excellent endgame and solid number-crunching mechanics. In addition, Warlords of New York also adds a wealth of new content. While it is not a perfect game, Warlords of New York does add a lot of fresh elements to the game.
Features
The Warlords of New York expansion adds four new Agent skills and mods to the game. The game is set during an outbreak of an epidemic in the city. You can join Keener’s crew or become one yourself to take over New York. In addition, the Warlords expansion includes four familiar faces that you might have come across in previous games. The developer promises to update the original Division factions as well, making Warlords of New York an accessible jump-on point for those who may be intimidated by the game’s new elements.
Another major change in the game is the new UI. Warlords of New York has a re-evaluate UI so it is much clearer and more accessible. It exposes only the most vital information and makes it easy to learn even for those with little gaming experience. While this isn’t a replacement for a manual, it helps make the game a little easier to get into, especially for newcomers.
Story
In The Division 2: Warlords of New York, a new rogue agent known as Aaron Keener has taken control of the city’s Lower Manhattan and is backed by four devoted lieutenants. With the new threat posing as a real threat, the Division agents must work together to protect the city and clear the cities’ strongholds from Keener and his four lieutenants.
The new expansion introduces a new campaign for the game. It will be a welcome change for fans of the first game. This time around, you will be able to take a helicopter to New York City instead of hiking through the snow. The game also makes use of new weapons and equipment, including a new weapon called a sniper rifle. If you’re into the narrative, Warlords of New York is a must-buy for any Division fan.
Build-making system
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 was a smashing success when it first launched, bringing a massive new world with sweeping changes to gear and leveling systems. The sequel brings all of that and more, as the game returns to New York, and we’re here to find out why. Jesper Karabanov, producer of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2: Warlords of New York, spoke to Hardcore Gamer to learn more about the game’s new features and tweaks.
The game has received mostly positive reviews since its release, but a few problems arose during the initial launch. Players had complained about the time-consuming builds that weakened their stats. Thankfully, Ubisoft took note of these problems, and released the standalone expansion Warlords of New York, which introduces the build-making system. In a game themed after New York, it feels like an excellent choice.
End game content
Warlords of New York is a narrative-driven DLC that brings the action from Washington, DC to Lower Manhattan. The game introduces a new open world map and sweeping overhauls to gear and leveling systems. Unlike previous editions, Warlords of New York requires paying full price to purchase, and you can’t get it with the Year 1 Pass. However, if you want to experience this DLC, it is well worth the price.
The Summit is the latest DLC expansion in The Division 2. The storyline in this chapter involves your Division agents scaling a 100-floor skyscraper. They must clear every floor of enemies and battle bosses every ten floors. You can skip the first floor if you want to, but you must complete all ten floors to unlock the next. Each floor contains a different set of items and enemies, so be prepared to find some surprises. While there are no firm release dates for the Warlords of New York expansion, we will certainly be seeing it on PC test servers soon.
