The PlayStation Portable, or PSP, is a small handheld gaming system produced by Sony. It is still being sold today, with more than 80 million units sold worldwide. A few years ago, Sony announced that it would no longer be making games for the PSP, but in February it reported that it would relaunch the PSP Go. But on April 20, 2011, Sony confirmed that the PSP Go was no longer being produced outside of North America. This announcement was surprising, but thankfully, it did not result in a complete shutdown of the PSP.

The PSP was discontinued in February 2014, but Sony did not completely stop making games for the system. The company clarified their policy on downloads on US and UK PlayStation websites. As of July 2017, PSP content will remain available on PS3 and PS Vita stores but will no longer be sold through the in-game store. In addition to this, the company will no longer make games for the PSP.

After the PSP went off the market, Sony also discontinued its digital store, making it impossible to purchase new PSP games. However, this did not mean the end of the PSP, and there are still a handful of games available for the system. The PSP digital store shut down July 6, 2016 and no longer offers digital games. Even though the PSP may have been a popular device, it simply could not compete with the Nintendo Switch’s performance, which prompted Sony to close down the online marketplace and halt official support for the system. A Twitter account for Sony’s PlayStation Portable’s official shutdown stated that “there is no new game development for the PSP” as of today.

Although the PSP has been discontinued, Sony has not completely ended their support for the platform. Some games are still being sold through the PSP’s digital store. While there was no way to downgrade the software, there are a few ways to purchase new PSP titles. The last game for the PSP was Retro City Rampage DX, which was released on July 15, 2015. The PlayStation Store has since been shut down.

The PSP digital store was closed earlier this year. While the PSP is still available on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, the store no longer sells digital games. This made the platform’s digital store a more difficult option for PSP owners to access the PlayStation Store. As a result, PlayStation fans can now play the games they already own on the PS3 and the PlayStation Vita.

The PlayStation Store has been shut down for two years. The closure was announced back in March, and Sony later reversed its decision to shut down the Vita store. It is not clear if this will impact the PlayStation Store. Some of the titles still remain, but they are no longer being made for the PSP. While it is sad that the PSP is no longer being supported by its manufacturers, there is still a viable way to buy digital games. As of July 6, no one can purchase digital games for the PSP. There are still two stores that sell games for the PSP, but the software is different. Consequently, users can still access the same digital library on either device. While there is no official replacement, the store has been a great place to find and play PSP games for years.

Fortunately, the PSP is still supported by its users. The PlayStation Store and the PlayStation Network are still available, but the PSP-exclusive store was shut down in 2016. The PlayStation Network is a way to download games, while PlayStation Home is not. In addition, the PlayStation store offers downloadable games. Ultimately, the question is: Will they continue to make digital games for the PSP? This is a question that is important to answer because it is a popular platform.
