Carrie Fisher’s tribute
During the Star Wars Celebration Orlando event, George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, and Billie Lourd paid tribute to the late actress, as well as John Williams, who conducted the orchestra and performed the Princess Leia’s Theme. In an emotional moment, Fisher even recited her iconic monologue. The entire tribute video featured behind-the-scenes production footage and interviews with the cast and crew.
The tribute video includes clips of some of Fisher’s most memorable scenes from the “Star Wars” saga, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, as well as a classic video clip of Fisher and Gary singing the theme song. The tribute video also features behind-the-scenes footage of Fisher on the set of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, including her interview with director Rid Johnson.
George Lucas’ rewrite of “Star Wars”
This documentary, George Lucas’ rewrite of “Star War,” discusses the differences between theatrical release and remastering and updates of older films. It also discusses the use of the word “rape” and the relationship between filmmaking and digital technology, and how these trends seem to go against the control filmmakers have over their work. Lucas has also made his footage and sound available to the public, which could further complicate the issue.
While George Lucas is not the only filmmaker who has changed the original Star Wars movies, he is perhaps the best known for tinkering with them. Innumerable trips to the editing room at Skywalker Ranch have resulted in dozens of changes and refinements. For example, he changed the shooting order of Greedo to fit his vision and to make it more visually compelling. The result is a reimagined film franchise that fans are sure to love.
Hasbro’s 40th anniversary collection
For collectors of the classic Star Wars movies, Hasbro’s 40th anniversary series is a great opportunity to buy classic figures that are still relevant. The Darth Vader figure, for instance, has a full range of articulation, similar to the Black Series figure. Though he is not the most mobile character, this figure’s articulation is more than sufficient for a variety of poses. While this set’s packaging is attractive, some fans may feel that the plastic trifold cardboard is flimsy.
The collection also includes pre-Disney expanded universe characters like Jaina Solo, one of Han and Leia’s kids. And of course, Hasbro jumped at the opportunity to bring back Grand Admiral Thrawn to the toys. The set will be the centerpiece of Comic-Con. But with all of these figures in hand, collectors won’t have to worry about their kids getting lost in the collection.
Mattel’s tiki mug
Star Wars fans will love the new tiki mug from Mattel, which features the iconic Hutt gangster as well as an AT-AT. These iconic machines swung around the galaxy on their oversized legs, blasting anything that got in their way. It also includes a tiny Bib Fortuna tiki mug. Kids can fill the mug with their favorite drink and keep the Sarlac pits safely inside.
Another new tiki mug from Mattel celebrates the 40th anniversary of the first Star Wars movie. This new design features a Krampus mug, which is the Christmas Devil. It features a white glaze with red accents, and is part of a limited edition series. This mug will be available through Christmas Eve, but will ship in Q2 of 2019.
Hasbro’s Her Universe 40th anniversary pin
Her Universe has created a line of “Star Wars” 40th Anniversary apparel that draws inspiration from characters from throughout the franchise. The C-3PO jacket, for example, features a 40th Anniversary logo on the front and the iconic scene between C-3PO and R2-D2 from “A New Hope” on the back. Gold-colored sleeves and trim help hide X-Wings and rebel helmets. The 40th Anniversary “Star Wars” logo is also available on ThinkGeek socks.
