What Galaxy Does Star Wars Take Place In?

So, you’ve watched a Star Wars movie, but you don’t know what galaxy it takes place in? There are many theories on this question, but it’s important to keep your expectations realistic. The following is a brief explanation of each of the four most common locations: the Western Reaches, Outer Rim, and Unknown Regions. If you’re interested in learning more about each location, read on!

Unknown Regions

The Unknown Regions of the Star Wars galaxy are areas of space where advanced civilizations and local systems are undiscovered. These civilizations are determined to keep humans and their allies out of their region. Moreover, the planets in these regions are so far removed from civilization that they have lost all records of their past civilizations. In the Star Wars franchise, we get a glimpse of such a planet during the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In the movie “Rogue One,” the mysterious threat in the Unknown Regions is fought by a droid called Thrawn. A native of the Chiss Empire, Thrawn is dispatched to these regions during the Galactic Civil War. While the Imperial Grand Admiral was ostensibly on a mapping expedition, his real objective is to explore the Unknown Regions and subjugate entire sectors for the Galactic Empire. This character subsequently created the Empire of the Hand and built shipyards and laboratories to bolster his military.

Outer Rim

The Outer Rim of Star Wars galaxy is a fictional region of space, separated from the core by the galactic ring. The Galactic Republic remains a dominant galactic power in the millennium after the events of the prequel trilogy. Trade between the Core and Outer Rim Territories is booming and the Jedi Order enforces order across the galaxy. In contrast, Outer Rim worlds viewed themselves as victims of injustice, and they refused to offer lucrative trade deals to the Core. Pirates terrorize Eriadu, which lacks federal military protection.

Hutt Space is a region of space located in the eastern quadrant of the galactic plane. It is home to the Hutts, a kleptocratic Mafia society comprised of several rival clans. Although the Hutts’ power and resources are overwhelming, their petty rivalries made them an unlikely threat to the Republic. In addition, both the Mandalorians and Hutts are divided and armed with droids.

Core Worlds

The Galactic Quadrant in which Star Wars takes place is divided into four quadrants, with Coruscant Subsector encompassing eleven planets and four moons. This region also includes the OboRin Comet Cluster and the asteroid belt. While the first films of the franchise are set in the far future, this setting is still relatively familiar. The following is a brief history of the Coruscant System.

The Core Worlds contain millions of systems. The most important of these is Coruscant, which is the homeworld of humans. Other Core Worlds include Alderaan, Kuat, Nubia, Duro, and many more. Although they are less dense than the Deep Core, these worlds are the center of civilization and commerce, and serve as a backdrop for major events of the series. Throughout the years, the Core Worlds have also served as stages for the Galactic Civil War.

Western Reaches

The western Reaches in Star Wars are regions in the galaxy where the Galactic Empire has launched pacification operations against the Confederation of Independent Systems. The Western Reaches, or WRTS, are located in the southwestern region of the Mid Rim. During the New Order, the Empire has pushed out the Confederacy of Independent Systems and set up their own government and military to control the region. The Western Reaches had been inhabited by pirates, smugglers, and other criminals before the Empire conquered them.

In the Western Reaches, the Empire maintained shipyards over Kartoosh as a support base for star destroyers. They also served as salvage yards for captured Separatist vessels. Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic and Moff Tarkin worked together on this project, using the conflict to advance the Empire’s construction projects and justify the appropriation of worlds. But, they didn’t stop there. The conflict continued until about 15 BBY.

Western Reaches planetoid

Located in the southwestern portion of the Star Wars galaxy, the Western Reaches are the former territories controlled by the Republic. They border the Unknown Regions of the galaxy’s “west.” Like the Outer Rim, the Western Reaches have an interesting history and are a hotbed of scientific and technological development. As a result, they are considered frontiers of galactic exploration. One of the major regions in the Western Reaches is the planet Jakku.

The planet’s name came from the fact that it was home to the Twi’lek race. It was a planet covered in mountains. The planet was ruled by Queen Breha Organa during the Galactic Republic, and her husband, Senator Bail Organa, was its senator. The Twi’lek’s homeworld had a breathable atmosphere and an enormous forest covering the planet’s equator. Nevertheless, it was an isolated, barren place that was home to many dangerous predators.

Unknown Regions planetoid

The Unknown Regions is a large area of uncharted space in the Star Wars galaxy. Though it has yet to be charted by the Empire or Republic, they have plotted 250 sectors within the Unknown Regions. The Unknown Regions was also largely ignored by the New Jedi Order. However, it is important to note that the Star Wars universe contains many places of interest.

This desert world in the Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy is made up of a single biome, and is a powerful place in the Unknown Regions. It has been the source of kyber crystals, and it has the most than any other planetoid known to man. During the Empire’s rule, the planetoid was a mining planet, but after the Chaos Rising, the New Republic began to gain control of it.
