Varian was a gladiator in the Crimson Ring
The character Varian is a human gladiator in World of Warcraft. The name Varian is derived from the orcish name Lo’Gosh, which means “Ghost Wolf”. This character is a popular character, and he even had TWO comic book issues dedicated to him. The comic book story details how Varian came to be a gladiator.
Varian, like his brothers Broll and Lo’Gosh, was born in the Crimson Ring, a clan of thieves and criminals. He escaped from captivity when he met Hamuul Runetotem in Darnassus. He later met Tyrande Whisperwind, who had been sent to Theramore by the Orcs. Once he learned the truth, he resolved to return home. He fought alongside the Thargas Anvilmar in the defense of Thandol Span.
He was abducted by the Defias Brotherhood
During the Third War, the House of Nobles was infiltrated by the black dragon Onyxia and the resulting bloodshed prompted the king to be forced to abdicate his throne. The resulting bloodshed shook the city of Theramore and left Varian in despair. Later, he recovered and decided to visit the capital city of the Kingdom of Dustwallow Marsh, Theramore. This visit was a chance for Varian to discuss the future of the Alliance and Horde relations with the factions.
After the abduction, Varian’s kingdom was once again governed by the House of Nobles. After the Kingdom was re-established, he promised to repay the Stonemasons. However, this was delayed by political disputes between the Stormwind House of Nobles and the Stonemasons, leading to riots. The riots caused the deaths of Varian’s wife and son Anduin. The House of Nobles’ failure to repay the debt led to the formation of the Defias Brotherhood. VanCleef then led a group of bandits to rob and starve the town of Westfall and its mining communities, thereby causing chaos. He then escaped with several of the Stonemasons to Westfall. However, the Defia
He was a warcraft prince
In the Warcraft game, Varian was the prince of Stormwind. His father had been killed by the half-orc Garona. Varian’s father hated all orcs, but he also found solace in the fact that he could become king of Stormwind. After the Alliance defeated the orcs and took their home, Prince Varian gathered a council of experienced ministers and advisors to lead his kingdom. With the help of High General Turalyon, Varian took up the position of king. He often left Stormwind to protect various corners of his kingdom from orc raiding parties. As a result, he was able to befriend several of the future Lich Kings.
As a child, Varian lived a life of privilege as the prince of Stormwind. He trained in horse riding and fighting, and was able to fulfill his royal duties well. However, his life changed dramatically when the orcs entered the world through the Dark Portal. The orcs wiped out much of Stormwind’s human population, and Varian was forced to fight the Horde. But his life has never been the same since.
He was a king
When he was king, Varian had everything he had ever wanted: peace, a loving wife, a son, and an heir. But his life was cut short by a tragedy. The death of his father’s son led to Varian’s untimely demise. In his dreams, he held his dying father in his arms and said, “This is the way it always ends for Wrynn kings.” His son Arthas and surrogate father Terenas were the only things he wanted in life.
Originally, Varian was a member of the Defias Brotherhood, but his efforts to gain the trust of the House of Nobles were not successful. After several years of imprisonment on Alcaz Island, he was kidnapped by the group. Onyxia was forced to make him duplicate himself in order to kill the original Varian. This duplicate Varian was then taken by the Naga.
He was similar to Conan
One of the most striking similarities between Conan and King Varian in World of Warcraft is the character’s rise to power. Both are fierce and possess similar temperaments. When Sylvanas first saw Varian in Edge of Night, he instructed her generals to assault the Undercity. Unless Sylvanas had found another hero, she likely would not have returned to her people. Varian even appears in the children’s book Snow Fight, written by Chris Metzen and illustrated by Wei Wang.
In the original game, King Varian was the Stonemason leader. He failed to reach a settlement with the House of Nobles, which led to riots. His wife was killed during the riot. The Defias Brotherhood captured Varian, and he was imprisoned beneath Alcaz Island. This is where the events of World of Warcraft begin.
