Are the Witcher games connected? That is the question I’ve been asking myself ever since I first played The Witcher. It’s a series of detective games set in the world of Skellige, and it features the same main character, Geralt of Rivia. However, there are some differences between the books and the games. In particular, the character looks different in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher 4: Assassin’s Creed. Is this a way of tying the two games together?

Skellige is a witcher game
The Northern Kingdom of Skellige is a cluster of islands off the coast of the continent of Cintra. It is a friendly ally of Cintra, governed by Eist Tuirseach, the second husband of Queen Calanthe. This lands are also associated with the druids, powerful elemental wizards who control lightning, wind, and rain. In The Witcher 3, Skellige often features in the storyline.
The story starts with Geralt sailing to Skellige, where he meets Ciri, a former lover. Ciri is attempting to break a mysterious phylactery curse when she runs into powerful crime bosses in Novigrad. After Geralt rescues her, he discovers that Ciri teleported to Skellige. Geralt then meets up with her, and they have a chance to reconnect.
Sadly, Skellige is also the setting for the ending of the storyline for Vivienne. In The Witcher 3, players must save her from a curse, which has cursed her. Fortunately for Geralt, there is a way to save her, but it’s not without cost. The player will have to spend seven years of their lives in the game to save Vivienne. Otherwise, Vivienne will die in the harbour of Kael Troide.
Geralt of Rivia is a witcher character
As the protagonist of the first game, Geralt of Rivia was raised by his mentor, Vesemir, who was more like a father than a friend. He underwent years of rigorous training under Vesemir’s guidance. Geralt met his classmate Eskel, who became his friend and ally. They also fought against a large swamp monster called Kayran, which has been threatening the town. Vesmeir punished them with leather straps. After the attack, Geralt took sides with the other characters, including Saskia the Dragon Slayer and Lambert, and also helped them solve a wide range of issues in Flotsam.
The character has many traits that set him apart from other witchers. Geralt is cunning and taciturn. He rarely engages in human conversations. His favorite pastimes include women and tankards. He spends most of his time wandering the lands of Temeria, scouring the ruins for a gold coin. In the process, he finds himself struggling for relevance in the world.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a detective game
If you’ve played the previous games in the series, you know that they can be difficult, but this third entry is definitely not one of them. The game’s world is one of creaky bones, mutants, and sorceresses. The player must navigate this world as if it is a living, breathing place. The game’s storyline offers a number of options and subplots that can be explored and solved. However, the gameplay is primarily driven by player choice, which will determine the outcome of the storyline.
This open-world adventure game is set in a fantasy universe, and the player is a mercenary monster slayer named Geralt of Rivia. In addition to fighting monsters, Geralt must also find the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon. Thankfully, this game provides plenty of options, and it’s not difficult to find the right path to complete it.
Characters look a little different
While the appearance of the main characters in the books and the games is largely similar, the characters in the video games do look a little different. While the majority of the characters have the same features, some have been restyled or even renamed. For example, Triss has bright red hair while Anna Shaffer has black curly hair. Her green eyes make her piercing stare seem even more intense.
The videogame version of Geralt is older and has a full beard, unlike the Netflix version. The voice of Geralt in the videogame is deep and husky, which is both recognizable and pleasant. The developers tried to make Geralt look cooler than he does in the books, but managed to strike a balance between traditional industry protagonists and Sapkowski’s writing. So, while the characters look similar, the game version of Geralt may have more character development.
