Obtaining the Dectus Medallion is the standard way to reach the Altus Plateau. You can find this item in Fort Faroth, located in Dragonbarrow. It’s also found at Fort Haight in East Limgrave, which is located southeast of Erdtree. After you obtain the Dectus Medallion, you can head eastwards to reach the Plateau.

Avoiding Greyoll

Avoiding Greyoll is an important part of the quest. The dragon is a huge opponent that you will have to defeat, and it takes damage from all dragons you defeat, but its health is a bit crazy. To avoid this dragon, try to sneak up behind it and hit it with a weapon that deals bleed damage. If you can’t do that, kill one of Greyoll’s children instead. This will reduce their health by one fifth.

After defeating the dragon, you’ll have to fight the next boss, a Grafted Scion. The goal of this monster is to kill you. Thankfully, if you have a large shield, you can soak up some of the attacks. If you’re not level 80, you can use a Torrent. A Torrent is a very good option for this, as it allows you to attack both the dragon and the boss without being hit.
