One of the most common questions I get from new Ark players is “how to throw the Dimorphodon?” I find the answers to these questions mostly online or on forums, and haven’t actually gotten around to playing the game on a console yet. I am assuming that the Xbox version of the game is the same as the PC version. So let’s dive right in.

Crouching: Holding down the right thumbstick puts you in a crouch position. This will allow you to easily launch your spear from a great distance. The left bumper plus view/back button brings up the in-game chat. You can also hold down the B button to bring up the radial menu, which will let you choose emotes and whistling. The LT key will prepare you to throw a spear. If you miss, pull RT or press RB to cancel.

You can hold down the B button to access the radial menu to change your emotes and whistling. The LT key will prepare you to throw a spear. You can also cancel the throw by pressing RB or pulling RT.

To throw a spear, you must hold LT. To do this, hold down RT. You will then place yourself in a prone position. To change your position, hold the right thumbstick while releasing it to move in the prone position. To use a ray gun, hold down the left bumper and press the view/back button. You can also use the radial menu to select emotes, whistling, or a few other options.

This action will land on the target’s head. Once the Dimorphodon has been struck, you will have a chance to evade the Dimorphodon.

To throw the Dimorphodon, hold the left thumbstick and press the RB button. Then, hold the RT and press RB to cancel the attack. You should now be ready to use the spear to kill the Dimorphodon. To make your spear throw, you must hold the LT and RB at the same time. This will set your character up for a prone position.

To throw a Dimorphodon, hold the right thumbstick. It will move you into a prone position. To throw a Dimorphodon, you must hold the left thumbstick while pulling the RB. To cancel your throwing, you can pull the RT and RB. It will then release the D-Button. However, it is important to use the correct buttons.
