Arthas Menethil was a prince of Lordaeron
While only appearing in the Warcraft III expansion, Arthas Menethil has become one of the most well-known names in World of Warcraft. Known as the Lich King, he was the Heir-apparent of Lordaeron. At first, Arthas was human, but later became undead. He is still considered one of the most powerful villains in the Warcraft series.
The human kingdom of Lordaeron was once ruled by Terenas Menethil II. When orcs invaded Azeroth, he was the ruler of Lordaeron, a kingdom populated by the sorceress Jaina. After the First War, he gathered the human kingdoms in Lordaeron and founded the Order of the Silver Hand.
He served as a death knight
In Warcraft 3’s story, the death knight Arthas kills his father, the legendary warrior Mal’Ganis. Arthas, having been born as a death knight, has never had to face his father’s evil. He was able to use this tragedy to motivate men to join the fight against the Scourge and Mal’Ganis. However, this story is not entirely without flaws. Let’s take a look at the most notable ones.
While most orcs had left Lordaeron under Thrall, the Blackrock Clan of demon-worshipping orcs were still active. These creatures ravaged the countrysides. Meanwhile, rumors of plague were circulating in the northern region. Arthas was able to protect his hometown from the threats that threatened the town. His new allies were also able to save him.
He mutated into a Naga
After killing his father, Arthas was sent to investigate a mysterious plague plaguing the northern lands. In order to do this, he encountered the necromancer Kel’Thuzad, who was plotting to infect the village’s grain supply. Kel’Thuzad also told Arthas that there was an even greater danger looming. He would soon be absorbed into the Lich King’s army, and he would eventually become the new Lich King.
When Arthas finally reached the Frozen Throne, he had to fight several enemies and eventually encounter the demon Mal’Ganis. He also had to contend with the Faceless Ones. Eventually, he managed to kill Mal’Ganis and go back to Lordaeron. In his quest to defeat the Lich King, Arthas mistook Tichondrius for Mal’Ganis. In the meantime, Tichondrius explained to Arthas that he was here to help him. He also explained to Arthas that he was the first to be possessed by the Frostmourne.
He was killed by Kel’Thuzad
The Lich King’s primary agent, Kel’Thuzad, was originally a human mage of Kirin Tor. He was corrupted by the Lich King, and was responsible for bringing the plague to Lordaeron under the guise of Mal’Ganis. Kel’Thuzad was slain by Arthas Menethil, but was reborn as a lich and commanded the Scourge of Lordaeron from Naxxramas.
After Kel’Thuzad killed the paladins, he arose as a lich and was far more powerful than a living necromancer. The Lich King’s vengeance allowed him to regain his corpse form. Kel’Thuzad’s death sparked a major rift in the world of Lordaeron and brought about the death of the mighty Lordaeron.
He was inducted into the Knights of the Silver Hand
After killing his father and inducting himself into the Knights of the Silver Hand, Arthas became King of Orgrimmar. While this was his first major achievement, he was destined to fail. While Vader was redeemed by becoming Anakin and saving his son, Arthas had no redemption. Despite being a noble, Arthas’s actions led to his downfall.
Arthas’ turning point in the game came during the Culling of Stratholme. He decided to kill everyone, instead of allowing the undead to eat them. He also raised the dead horse Invincible to be his steed. He then killed his father’s followers and the undead to swarm the town. However, after his victory, Tichondrius the Darkerner spotted his actions, and he tasked him with obtaining Kel’Thuzad’s corpse. He then killed some of his former paladin allies and mentors to make sure the undead had no more souls to take.
He killed his father
In Warcraft 3, Arthas killed his father, and now he is the Lich King, ruling Northrend and the shattered Isles. He has his own lieutenants, Anub’Arak and Kel’Thuzad. In his own words, Arthas is “alive,” meaning he is not hurting Azeroth. Although he isn’t visible in the Outlands, his voice is heard in Naxxramas.
The Lich King is the primary antagonist of Warcraft III. Arthas’ father, Uther, was a warlock who fought the Horde and the Alliance, enforcing the Thrall’s Reign in Lordaeron. Arthas returned to his home continent of Lordaeron to seek the power of the Frostmourne. In his quest to revive Kel’Thuzad, he killed his father and a few other trolls. His mission was to gather the Cult of the Damne, and he used his magical powers to travel to Andorhal.
