If you’ve wondered “Can your Spotify followers see what you listen to?”, you’re not alone. Even the most ardent Spotify user sometimes slips an inappropriate track into their audio stream. However, enabling social sharing may not be enough to prevent the insidious program from snooping around your listening habits. While it is possible to turn off social sharing, you may still need an excuse.

Friend Activity
Friend Activity is a feature on Spotify that lets your followers see what you listen to. You can view your friends’ shared playlists or listen to the same tracks that you are listening to. It is possible to report any followers that are unfollowing you. Afterward, you can easily unfollow them. You can also turn off Friend Activity and only allow certain friends to see your music.
Friend Activity is not the only feature that you can turn off on Spotify. It also has its downsides, which is that it may be confusing for some users. To enable it, you need to explicitly choose “Private” mode in the settings menu. You can also double-check the “Do not share” option on the Friend Activity page, as it may make the interface more confusing.
Private sessions
If you don’t want your followers to know what you’re listening to, you can choose to keep your Spotify listening activity private. There are two ways to do this. First, you can turn off social settings for your profile, but that means that other people can still see what you’re listening to. Second, you can hide your listening activity temporarily by disabling the “Share my listening activity on Spotify” option. Lastly, you can choose to hide your Listening activity for specific playlists.
To enable private sessions on Spotify, first launch the app. From the menu that appears, click the Settings option. Once you’re in the Settings page, toggle on “Private sessions.” Once you’re done, no one can see what you’re listening to. You can also enable or disable private sessions from mobile devices. This is especially useful for listening to music you’ve previously recorded.
Sharing listening activity
Most people don’t think about whether or not their followers can see their listening activity on Spotify. However, it’s a very real possibility. In a recent Buzzfeed article, women reported that their ex-boyfriends had been using the app to stalk them and intimidate them. So, is it possible to block a Spotify follower? The answer is yes. In order to block a Spotify follower, simply locate their profile and tap on the “Block User” option.
To prevent your followers from seeing your listening activity, make sure you enable private sessions for Spotify. Spotify’s “Private Session” feature allows you to temporarily turn off sharing your listening activity. When you restart Spotify, your Private Sessions will be reactivated. To keep your listening activity private, you must turn on the option each time you open the app. This is especially important if you want to listen to music offline.
Disabling it
If you don’t want your followers to know what you listen to, you can block other users from viewing your playlists and listening activity. The process is simple: navigate to the user’s profile and click on the Three Dots menu to choose Block User. This will prevent other users from seeing your listening activity or your profile page. This feature has been requested by users since 2013, and Spotify acknowledged the possibility of blocking users in June this year.
You can also choose to disable Spotify’s “Friend Activity” feature. This feature shows recent listening activity of the people you follow. This will also hide your recent play activity from the public Spotify profile. You can do this on desktop and mobile. If you’re using a desktop, you can disable this feature by tapping the icon with a blue lock. This will prevent followers from seeing your listening activity.
Blocking it
Spotify users can block followers from seeing what they listen to. By blocking them, you prevent them from seeing what you’re listening to and viewing your playlists. While Spotify has been monitoring users for years, this new feature allows you to block unwanted followers. It will begin rolling out to customers this week. If you don’t want to block anyone, you can also unfollow them to keep them from being able to see what you’re listening to.
To block Spotify users, you first have to login to your account. You can do this from either the desktop app or the web client. On desktop, click the three-dot-icon at the top-right corner of their profile. Next, click the “Block” option on the person’s profile. A pop-up window will appear confirming your decision to block them. Now, the people you want to block will be blocked from seeing your playlists and other activity on Spotify.
