Most of the time, the ability modifier for weapons is strength, but finesse weapons add dexterity to damage instead. This can be useful for a character who wants to use weapons effectively. To learn more about the difference between dexterity and strength, read this article. It will give you some tips on how to maximize the effect of finesse weapons in your gameplay. But before we discuss the difference between dexterity and strength, let’s look at what’s involved.

Feats
A barbarian can benefit from the Feats of Finesse feat when using a finesse weapon. A barbarian gains an AC of 18 and has 14 hitpoints, as opposed to a non-finessed barbarian’s 14. The Barbarian can also use Swordsmaster’s Flair, but the effect is less significant than the Barbarian’s AC. As a result, most barbarians use a light weapon.
Those with the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat can craft a finessed weapon. They must also have the Cat’s Agility spell to obtain the trait. Weapons with the Feats of Finesse add Dexterity and Strength to their damage. Although most of the weapon-specific feats require dual-wielding or shielding, the Feats of Finesse will boost damage for certain types of weapons. For instance, a heavy blade can greatly benefit from this trait.
There are also other classes that can benefit from this feat. The Swordlord Fighter Prestige Class and the Swashbuckler archetype synergistically complement one another. The Swashbuckler gets weapon finesse at level one. The Swashbuckler can choose either Fencing Grace or Slashing Grace for their finesse weapons. Both of these feats add dex to damage with the chosen weapon, so dual-wielding is a good idea if you want to boost your dex to a high level.
Perks
While finesse weapons add dex to damage, the base damage will not be affected. Weapons that are more dexterous may have a stronger effect, though, which is why the finesse modifier is used in their construction. Regardless of the reason behind this change, finesse is not a replacement for dexterity. It simply trades off one stat slot for another. While it doesn’t replace a stat completely, it does undermine the purpose of the other stat.
In addition to adding dex to damage, Finesse is a powerful stat for some classes. For instance, the Swashbuckler class, which synergizes with the Swashbuckler, can add dex to damage. At level one, Swashbucklers can take the Slashing Grace or Fencing Grace feat. The latter, if used correctly, is better for the swashbuckler, while the former may benefit from a rapier.
Class restrictions
Finesse weapons are considered light weapons. They are especially appropriate for rogues and rangers, who can use the dexterity modifier in place of strength. These weapons allow players to make sneak attacks, which offsets their low base damage and allows them to stack additional d6es. However, they are not recommended for melee combat, as these weapons require proficiency in other weapons. If you’re looking for a weapon to maximize your sneak attack potential, a finesse weapon is the right choice.
Unlike heavy weapons, finesse weapons use Strength or Dexterity modifiers. The modifiers must be equal for both rolls. Small Creatures suffer a disadvantage on Attack rolls when using heavy weapons. This is because heavy weapons are too large for them to handle efficiently. Light weapons, on the other hand, are much easier to use and are great for fighting with more than one weapon. However, finesse weapons require a long time to load, and they only fire one piece of ammunition when fired.
Adding dexterity modifier to damage
A Finesse weapon adds a Dexterity modifier to damage. Normally, a weapon’s ability modifier is its strength. Finesse weapons use the dexterity modifier instead. They are especially useful for characters with high Dexterity who want to use weapons with finesse. The following are examples of weapons with Finesse properties. A level one fighter can compare a rapier to a longsword. In both cases, the fighter receives a +2 proficiency bonus to damage and attack.
The Rogue class requires Fitness Training. Weapon Finesse is a feat that allows the wielder to apply the Dexterity modifier to damage rolls. Weapons with this trait add a Dexterity modifier to damage, but only on slashing and piercing weapons. Finesse weapons cannot be used by two-handed characters. Off-hand weapons still do damage reduction with Strength.
