In Elden Ring, you can easily cheese Godfrey by using long-range attacks. Juke Godfrey’s first axe throw attack, and keep hitting him with spells and arrows. Because Godfrey only has two moves, it is easy to roll out of a slash or combo slash and continue attacking him. This method is the best way to deal with Godfrey’s spectral form.

Defeating Godfrey in Hoarah Loux
Defeating Godfrey in the final fight is the same as beating him in the previous one, but with a different approach. Godfrey is the slow and calculated type and will focus on axe combos and leg stomps. On the other hand, Hoarah is constantly on the move and will dash in to perform tiger strikes. Defeating Godfrey in Hoarah Loux requires a mix of timing and heavy attacks.
First, the best strategy is to try and avoid Godfrey’s fissure attack by moving quickly. Godfrey’s fissure attack is particularly difficult because he’s prone to movement. Fortunately, this move is easily avoided if you’re close enough to avoid it. Throughout the game, Godfrey will be moving slowly at range. However, the axe that he slams has a long cast time, so be sure to dodge it or jump over it.
After you’ve gotten close to Godfrey, make sure to use Ekzykes’s Decay to delay his first attack. This will provoke Godfrey to use an attack from the First Elden Lord. The Lightning Spear is your best choice during the second phase, as Hoarah Loux is neutral to Lightning Damage. However, be wary of the fact that he may avoid casting Lightning Spears.
Defeating Godfrey in spectral form
The first phase of the fight is straightforward. Godfrey approaches the player calmly. During the first phase, use Ekzykes’s Decay to draw Godfrey’s attention, and then proceed to dodge his attacks. In the second phase, use the Lightning Spear to strike Godfrey. Be careful, though, as Godfrey’s axe is not very high. If you don’t get to dodge it, you may unintentionally miss it.
If you are not familiar with the spectral form of Godfrey, then you should know that he is not weak to any element. He can take physical damage and is also unable to resist physical attacks, making it difficult to kill him. However, you should still be careful when fighting him because he can easily take you down with a single attack. As a result, you can use the summoning ability to attack Godfrey and summon Spirit Ashes to deal massive damage to him.
While Godfrey’s spectral form may seem difficult, it is actually not a difficult battle. He is one of the easier bosses you can face in the late game. Godfrey hits extremely hard and is not a very fast enemy, but you can still dodge him if you have enough stamina and understand the pattern. In close combat, you can use your shield to block his attacks.
Defeating Godfrey with a combo slash
A quick combo slash against Godfrey in the Elder Ring can easily take him down. His axe slams into the floor and then releases a golden-yellow power that will damage your characters. This attack can be dodged, but it can be tricky to time. When avoiding the slash, it’s best to run to a safe area or try to evade the axe’s shockwave.
As you may have guessed, the final boss in the Elder Ring is a two-part fight. After killing Godfrey, you will face Radagon, the Golden Order, who has an endless cycle of attacks and a holy AoE. Defeating him with a combo slash can help you finish the game with a single-shot kill.
A Godfrey Icon can also be a useful talisman to have in the Elder Ring. Defeating him with a Godfrey Icon will help you increase the damage capacity of your charged spells and incantations. After defeating Godfrey, you can go ahead and take the quest to the Forbidden Lands and Mountaintops of Giants.
Defeating Godfrey with one of your combination slashes will unlock a lot of new content for you. Besides the huge amount of Runes you’ll get from killing Godrick, you’ll also get tons of Remembrance of the Grafted, which is a valuable resource. These runes can be exchanged for unique weapons and spells or consumed to gain more. This quest will also give you access to the Great Rune, which you’ll need to find in the Divine Tower of Limgrave.
