Uphill powered rails

One of the most difficult parts of minecart racing is connecting them to uphill powered rails. Because of the incline, a cart cannot travel more than 3 blocks up the slope before losing its speed. Powered rails should be placed at junctions, with redstone wire connected to all of them.

If the slope of the powered rail is steep, a minecart will be stationary until 80 rail blocks have been used. At this point, it will move down a slope – which is similar to the process for a powered rail. When the powered rail is up against a solid block, a minecart stops, but then accelerates in the direction not blocked by the solid block.
