Channel Divinity: Dreadful Aspect
This feat enhances the Conquering Presence feature of Channel Divinity by making it more effective against enemies. If you already have the Dread Lord Aura, you can also use the feat afterward to increase the damage done by your spells. In addition, it makes your undead minions more potent. Moreover, the paladin’s Aura of Hate increases the damage he/she deals to frightened creatures.
Form of Dread
A paladin can channel and focus his dark emotions to produce a burst of magical menace. When this ability is used, creatures within 30 feet of the paladin must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. The frightened creature can make another attempt at saving themselves, but a failed one will disable the creature’s ability to use the feature. During this time, the paladin cannot use the Form of Dread.
Turn the Unholy
The Unholy is a horror film that is less involving in its special effects than The Nun. It follows a rigid three-act structure that starts with a prologue about a priest, a hanging tree, and a doll. The film then moves on to an alternate Lourdes, where the Marian apparition may not be a devil in disguise. This film’s jump scares are excellent, but it suffers from a lack of follow-up.
Guided Strike
Guided Strike in Dreadful Aspekt is an extremely useful ability. This spell allows the user to cast a guided strike on a single creature during a turn, and it can also be activated one time per long rest. When combined with Bane, it can significantly increase the amount of damage that you deal to enemies. It’s an excellent buff for frontline characters and allows you to use it against enemies with poor attack options.
Sacred Weapon
This spell is a good choice for a Paladin, a holy warrior who focuses on STR and CON. You might also want to consider adding CHA. This spell provides a +3 weapon attack bonus for a full minute, but there’s a lot of potential in it, and there’s no concentration requirement. You can also activate the Turn the Unholy ability before combat, but this is rarely used.
Charisma modifier
The Dreadful Aspect is a spell that grants you a bonus to your attack damage equal to your Charisma modifier. When the spell is cast, undead within 30 feet of you can deal dividends of damage directly to your foes. This effect can also affect allies. While undead can benefit from Dreadful Aspect, only one paladin can use it at a time.
Spells with dreadful aspect
A spell with dreadful aspect channels dark emotions to a target within 30 feet of the caster. Target creatures must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw to avoid being frightened for 1 minute. If they fail, the target is frightened for the duration of the spell. The target can attempt a new Wisdom saving throw if necessary. This spell also causes an additional fright effect on nearby friendly creatures.
Effectiveness in a dungeon
Dreadful Aspect has several uses. First, it is an escape hatch. If you fail a saving throw against a sustained spell, you cannot move close to an enemy until you are 30 feet away. Second, this ability grants a damage bonus to your attacks. Third, it can make it difficult for an enemy to attack you. A blackguard will always save a third level slot for this ability.
