Having a dragon is an amazing experience but can you truly transform your pathfinder into a dragon? While it’s certainly possible, the ability to shapeshift is not without risk. There’s a danger of a dragon hitting 0 health while in a new form, so if you do shapeshift your dragon into a human or an animal, you must make sure to make a plan before you start.

Polymorph text states that shapeshifters are immune to the effects
This spell is powerful, but not suited for hirelings or henchmen. Polymorph other creatures grants them all of the dragon’s abilities but not its mentality. Therefore, polymorphing a troll into a snail would result in him gaining the innate resistance of a snail, while a shapeshifter polymorphed into a human would gain the abilities of a normal man. The effect lasts until the other creature casts a spell to dispel the effect.
Unlike their cleric counterparts, shapeshifters gain the physical and natural abilities of the creature they’ve transformed into. These include physical size, Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution. They also gain armor and weapons and other similar gross physical characteristics. In addition to their physical abilities, shapeshifters gain nonmagical abilities, including the ability to move at high speeds.
The effect of polymorphing is similar to a normal transformation, with only the exception that the creature regains its original form after being killed. However, it will not be immune to the effects of dragons. When polymorphed, shapeshifters can throw an object upwards or zap it with a magic weapon. To change back to their original form, shapeshifters can pray and use amulets of life saving.

If you have the ability to cast Polymorph, you can transform yourself into any humanoid or animal for the duration of the spell. This spell does not affect a character’s hit dice, but it increases the size of the target. The raised creature has twice the normal size and weight, and is immune to magical diseases and curses. In addition, the creature is not affected by old age.
This spell has a range of 120 feet, and can be cast by any caster, regardless of level. It does not affect inanimate objects or creatures within a radius of 120 feet. The effect does not last more than one hour. Its range is unrestricted, but it can target a single creature at a time.
Some polymorphs can be used as metamorphs, but only into humanoid forms. These characters are restricted to two dimensions: human and animal. Those with higher levels can use dispel magic to cancel spell effects on themselves. However, this effect might not work on spells created by lower level casters. This ability has a one-in-three chance to fail.
How to shapeshift a pathfinder
How dragons can shapeshift a pathfinder is a question that has been on my mind ever since I read the adventure module “Our Dragons Are Different.” Originally, it was only Bronze, Silver, or Gold dragons that were chromatic. However, the 4E Draconomicom series has expanded the option with new chromatic dragons such as the Red Dragon Ember. The Green Dragon, based on an adventure module of the same name, can also shapeshift, but it hides amongst the elves.
