How is Time Measured in Star Wars?

When the Empire collapses, the Republic returns to a different calendar and begins the Hosnian Reckoning. Time is shortened in this universe by omitting the century and decade marks. For instance, Adam Driver was born in the year ’83, while Ben Solo was born in ‘982 HR. But what’s the real significance of this date? And how does it relate to the events of the Kessel Run?

Coruscant Standard Time

The galactic standard time was a method of measuring time that was developed on the planet Coruscant. This system was tied to the planet’s yearly and daily cycle, with the standard day consisting of 24 hours and a standard year consisting of 368 days. In Star Wars, the galactic standard time was also referred to as BFE, or Before the Formation of the Empire. As a result, it was quite similar to Earth’s standard time, although it was still a significant difference.

In the Star Wars saga, the planet Coruscant serves as the hub of all galactic activity. It is the seat of the Jedi Order, as well as the capital of the Galactic Empire. However, it was not the only world affected by the conflict, and the planet was impacted greatly by this. During the conflict, Coruscant underwent radical changes. Large swaths of the cityscape were destroyed, making way for military staging areas. Urban renewal also displaced millions of citizens, primarily impoverished people and alien species loyal to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In this way, the planet was devastated and thousands of lives were lost.

MGLT

MGLT is a unit of acceleration that originated in the X-Wing computer game series. The unit was created to describe the top speeds of various spacecrafts. While MGLT was not widely used in the previous Star Wars role-playing game, its relative speeds were accurate and consistent. In Star Wars, 1 MGLT is equal to one meter per second. However, the exact unit of acceleration in the games varies based on the level of difficulty.

The galactic standard second (MGLT) is equivalent to the metric second. Higher units of time are also measured using the clock on Coruscant. A standard minute, hour, and day consists of 60 seconds. A standard year is 368 days long, which includes ten months and three fete weeks. While the metric year is not universally accepted by astronomers, it does appear to be the same as a metric year.

Shield of Lies

While the galactic standard second is almost identical to the metric system, there are a few differences. The first difference is the way in which time is measured. Coruscant has a 24-hour rotation period, and events take place in a 24-hour day. After that, the Lothal calendar was introduced. On the Lothal calendar, events are dated according to LY (Lothal Year). For example, Ezra Bridger was born in 3258 LY, and the Naboo invasion occurred in 3245 LY. The visual guide for Rebels also mentions this.

The Empire uses the hyperspace system to measure time, and this is how Luke and the Resistance get in the way of the rebels. Luke, meanwhile, turns himself in to Imperial forces and meets Darth Vader, who dismisses the plan to turn him away from the dark side. During the first battle, Leia meets an Ewok named Wicket, who defeats a stormtrooper and takes her to his village. Han Solo meets Ewoks on the planet, and he and his commando team break into a shield generator. C-3PO is regarded as a god by the Ewoks, and is the subject of a feast with the Ewoks.

Kessel Run

The Kessel Run is a fictional space voyage in Star Wars: Episode VII that establishes the safe backdoor route to Kessel, albeit with some added complexities. It’s a much shorter voyage than most people think, and Han Solo makes the journey in less than 12 parsecs. The danger of the hyperfuel that Han stole forces him to find a faster route. Once you understand how to calculate your parsecs, the “less than 12 parsec” brag will make sense. The 18 parsec route is a safe backdoor to Kessel, but cutting the distance to 12 parsecs means skirting close to the Maw gravity well.

Air-to-air refueling requires fighter jets to rendezvous with fuel air tankers. This work is extremely dangerous and requires advanced software engineering skills. Without native software engineers, the air-to-air refueling process would not work properly. However, with the Jigsaw application, the fighter jets were able to refuel with much less fuel than they did before. After that, the team focused on tackling inefficient programs and fighting the culture of inefficiency.
