Air Bud
The Air Bud franchise is now in its sixth film and the question is: How many dogs were killed in the making of the movie? The original film was released in 1996. It is considered a family-friendly movie, but its release has created controversy. Two of the offspring died of cancer. Air Bud and his son Buddy II were filmed in Japan and the film has received mixed reviews. The film’s production team has apologized to the victims, and Disney has pledged to make a sequel.
Snow Bud
When you watch the movie Snow Bud, you might wonder how many dogs died in the film’s making. The story is not true. There were thirty dogs in the set, and three died of intestinal complications. The American Humane Association is currently investigating how the movie’s producers handled the animals. The film was criticized for violating animal welfare laws, and three of the dogs were euthanized.
Talon vs. Buddy
The original Air Bud movie had six golden retrievers as cast members. The sequel starred two of those dogs, Rush and Zach. But there was a sad end to Buddy, the movie’s protagonist. He died of synovial cell sarcoma, a rare cancer, just a month after his second leg was amputated. And how many dogs died in the making of Air Bud?
Comet
If you’re a fan of the Air Bud franchise, you know how heartbreaking it is. In the first film, Air Bud is a basketball-playing Golden Retriever who lives in a small town in Alaska. The series continued with five sequels, but the deaths of five dogs barely made the news. In addition, the Humane Association rates films. In its most recent rating, Air Bud was given an “Unacceptable” rating. It also didn’t have the statement “No animals were harmed in the making of this film”. In light of that, it seems like this should have been a family friendly film.
Comet from “Full House”
If you’re a fan of the popular TV series Full House, you probably remember the golden retriever named Comet. This pooch became an important part of the Tanner family when he befriended DJ Tanner and her two sons. While the show was about three decades old, the series’ popularity still lives on through the spinoff Fuller House. Although the series has been canceled twice, the show’s dog, Comet, will be remembered by fans for her role in the series.
Golden Retriever puppies exposed to parvovirus during filming
In an effort to protect the health of the Golden Retrievers that starred in the new Disney movie, a puppy trainer contacted the American Humane Association after the puppies were found to have parvovirus. The vaccine for the disease takes two weeks to work, and the filming crew had to remove the puppies from their mothers too early. The puppies’ mother was not immediately available to give them a shot. Fortunately, the puppies were eventually vaccinated by a veterinarian.
Peta accuses Disney of animal abuse
PETA has accused Disney of animal abuse in the making of Air Bud and the Furry Friends, citing a new movie. Several small animals died when explosions hit the ocean during the shooting of the movie. No precautions were taken to ensure the animals’ safety, and dead marine life washed up on the shore for four days after the filming ended. This is an unacceptable condition for any film, and PETA hopes that the film industry will learn from the experience.
