Star Wars Rebels is an animated TV series that debuted on October 3, 2014. It was broadcast on Disney channels worldwide, and on Disney family channels in Canada. The show was later released on DVD. It is not available on Netflix, and will not be released on Disney plus until November 12, 2019.

Star Wars Rebels season 5 to be cancelled

It is very possible that Star Wars Rebels season five will be cancelled because of poor ratings. The animated series started off with a bumpy start after Disney acquired Lucasfilm and cancelled The Clone Wars. But the show has gained fans since it is inspired by the rebellion era lore and brought back characters like Thrawn and Ahsoka Tano. Originally, Season 5 was supposed to bring the series to a close with a new Ahsoka series. But this was never the case.

While it is not yet clear if Star Wars Rebels will be cancelled or renewed, a series creator has said there are no plans for Season 5. Filoni has stated that the first season told the entire story and therefore, there is no need for another season. However, he did say that he’s working on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2019.

Star Wars Rebels creator says there’s no reason for a sixth season

The creator of Star Wars Rebels has confirmed that the animated series will be ending after season four. Filoni made the announcement during Star Wars Celebration in Orlando. He said that he felt it was important to end the show on a high note. Filoni also mentioned the premature cancellation of The Clone Wars, which ended up streaming its last season on Netflix. As such, Filoni is more than content with the end of Rebels.

While the show’s creator has stated that there’s no reason for a sixth episode, this isn’t the end of the series. The Ghost Crew’s adventures, which wrapped up after the Rebellion’s victory over the Empire, will undoubtedly be continued. If this is the case, future adventures featuring these characters could be in the form of offshoots. In other words, the storyline could revolve around Sabine and Ahsoka searching for Ezra, or Hera raising Kanan’s child. Fans will be thrilled to see their favorite characters again in a new Star Wars series.

Characters introduced in season 5

While the Star Wars Rebels animated series was a huge hit, it also introduced new characters. Fans of the animated series likely became attached to Hera Syndulla (Vanessa Marshall), Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar), and Astromech droid Chopper. New characters were introduced as well, including Jedi Knights Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) and Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray). Another new character was Ahsoka Tano, a Mandalorian and a former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker.

The droid C1-10P was voiced by Dave Filoni and is a grumpy astromech. Hera recovered C1-10P when it crashed on Ryloth during the Clone Wars. It has earned the nickname “CHOP” because of its resemblance to the word “chop” when written out. He makes a brief cameo in the film Rogue One.

Storyline

Episode 2 kicks off with the Imperial patrol intercepting a shuttle flying toward Lothal. Ezra, dressed as a bounty hunter, and AP-5 droids are aboard. Agent Kallus is concerned about Ezra’s hostility to the droids, and decides to send out a transmission. This transmission will inform the Imperials that the Rebels are on Geonosis, and are seeking to defect. The rebels must be careful, however, as the Imperials are aware of their location, and can capture the Rebels at any moment.

The first episode of Star Wars Rebels follows this plotline: the Rebels are forced to fight their way through the Imperial forces, aided by a new recruit, Ahsoka. They find a temple that the Jedi built on Lothal and defeat the Empire, but the rebels are still under siege and must sneak past the Imperial blockade to rescue the remaining Rebels. The following episode is set in the future, after the Rebels have defeated the Imperials and reunited with the Rebels.

Cast

The cast of Star Wars Rebels is filled with many iconic characters from the films. From the Senator of Alderaan to the rogue Sith Lord, each character has a unique story. In season one, we met Bail Organa, a senator who led the Rebel Alliance. Other characters in the show include: Dante Basco as Jai Kell, a rebel cell leader; and Kassius Konstantine as the Imperial blockadeon commander on Lothal. The series also features high-ranking operatives from the Galactic Empire such as the Grand Admiral Thrawn and the masked Emperor Palpatine.

The Ghost crew is a member of the Rebel Alliance, which reunites with the Resistance to fight the Galactic Empire. While the Rebel Alliance struggles to unite, Ezra leads the crew back to their home world of Lothal to defeat the Empire. Along the way, the crew reunites with old friends. The cast of Star Wars Rebels is extensive. They include the iconic characters from the original trilogy, as well as the prequels Rogue One and Empire.
