Early quests can be completed to unlock characters and build a starting party. Characters can also be acquired using the Wish feature. In this gacha game, you can use your fate items to wish and obtain characters and equipment. Luckily, you can save these fate items and wish whenever you can. However, there are some ways to get characters without wishing. Here are a few of them:

Xinyan is a sub-DPS character
Xinyan is a versatile shielder Sub-DPS that can offer extra damage and reaction, as well as shield the team. The sub-DPS is known for her ‘Riff Revolution’ skill, which is effective in dealing massive amounts of Physical DMG and Pyro Blast to enemies. There is a small learning curve with Xinyan, as her skill can be quite simple at first, but can be confusing to new players. Xinyan is the only sub-DPS in the game without a skin.
Xinyan is a sub DPS character with similar damage output to Hu Tao, but with a different burst. Her burst converts all of her damage to anemo, giving her an extremely powerful plunge attack. While Xiao takes a little damage over time, she’s an excellent AoE attacker. You’ll need anemo support if you want to take full advantage of her anemo abilities.
Xinyan can deal enormous damage with her big sword, and dreams of becoming a Knight of Favonius. Despite her relatively poor stats, she’s a hard worker and can pack a big punch. She’s not a starting character in Genshin Impact, but she can be acquired by gacha. A guide to her build can be found here.
Xiangling is a fire-based polearm user
Xiangling is a 4-star Pyro Polearm user in Genshin Impact. She is a solid DPS and Support character and can be obtained for free by clearing Floor 3 of Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss. The character has a few desirable qualities and is a very good choice as a sub DPS if set up properly. This Genshin Impact Xiangling build guide focuses on her role as a DPS, and will show you how to set up her skills for either physical or Elemental damage.
While her base stats are solid, her strongest attack is her ER weapon. Xiangling’s Elemental Skill summons Guoba, which deals AOE Pyro Damage to nearby enemies. Using the Pyronado will deal additional damage. Although she is a strong Polearm user, she needs to be in close to enemies in order to deliver damage. She also prefers EM weapons over ER weapons, and should be used as such.
Xiangling’s main assets are her Elemental Skill and her Elemental Burst. She can also use her four-star Polearm, the Prototype Starglitter, which greatly increases her Pyro DMG and Energy Recharge by 10 percent. Moreover, she can use her Elemental Skill to increase her damage and her support nature.
Xiangling is a claymore-user
Xiangling is a free 4-star Pyro user with a Polearm. He is a useful support character or DPS, depending on what you’re looking for. He can be obtained by clearing Floor 3, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss. The Xiangling build guide is based around the role of DPS, and shows options for physical and Elemental damage.
The main character in Genshin Impact can change between different elements, and it’s recommended to choose him as a starting character if you’re new to the game. The Anemo Traveler has easy melee attacks, and is good for beginners because his normal attack inflicts Wind damage over a wide area. Xiangling also has great health and an excellent healing kit.
Xiangling first appears in Act I, Mondstadt Gastronomy Trip, where he helps the chef collect ingredients. He can be obtained free by completing Floor 3, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss, and gets stronger as you gain Constellation. The Xiangling also has a unique elemental skill that allows him to be surrounded by fire for 10 seconds.
Xiangling is a 4-star character with a unique Polearm attack that can be used in melee and distance. His fire-based elemental skills allow him to deal damage comparable to a skilled sword user. However, he’s no Diluc, and his downside is that he lacks a unique upside. If you want to play a fire elemental role, Xiangling is a good choice for support.
