In the game, you can create aspirations in the music category and add traits to your sims’ wardrobes and ears. These traits will help them enjoy music more and unwind after a hard day at work. For instance, you can grant your sims the musical genius trait (also known as a piper) to make them feel like a real musician. Obviously, this trait isn’t the most important but it can be fun.

Write a song
If you want to play music in Sims 4, you can use the song-writing option in the Music menu. You can choose the song you wish to play or create your own. Once you’ve selected your song, your Sim will begin writing. They will experience different emotions while they are writing. If you’re creative enough, your Sim might be inspired to write his or her own song.
If you want to make some extra money on your Sim’s song-writing endeavors, you can license your song. After you have completed the song, you’ll receive royalty payments. If you want to sell your creation, you’ll need to have skill level nine in one of the musical instruments. You’ll need a high level to license a song, but you can license the same song multiple times.
Create a radio station
You can create a radio station in The Sims 4 and make your Sims listen to different genres of music. It is a very rewarding side-job, as you’ll earn Fame points and get paid to play your tracks. Here’s how to get started:
As with most games, you can’t write your own custom songs in Sims 4, but you can upload your own. Make sure the music files you upload are at least 320kbit/sec. First, open the Documents folder in your computer. Next, navigate to the Sims 4 folder. In this folder, click on Custom Music. From there, select the subfolder called radio station. Then, turn it on.
Add earbuds
There are two ways to add earbuds to your Sims’ ears: either listen to music or turn them on and let your Sim do what they want to do while listening to music. If you’re in the mood for a bit of gothic style, add skull ears to your Sims. Cat-eared headphones are very popular with streamers and people who like cats.
Alternatively, you can add earbuds and get your Sims to listen to the music you play on the computer. This is great for the ‘party-oriented’ Sims who like to dance and listen to hip hop. But make sure you use headphones. This way, your Sims won’t feel as distracted by background noise. Add earbuds and play a song in the background for your Sims to listen to while they dance.
If you’d rather listen to your own music, you’ll want to check out “5SOS.” The Aussie band is not really a boy band, but their new song has a little bit of alternative and punk cred. The song works well as a background music for your Sims and will add to their summertime fantasies. You can also record your own music and share it with the community.
Disable background music
Stereos have been a longtime feature in the Sims games, and now you can turn off the background music so that your Sims can actually hear the music. Stereos now come with a moodlet called “Enjoying Music” which gives your Sims a +10% bonus when they listen to their favorite genre. You can also use the Start button to prime active sounds.
