Assassin’s Creed Valhalla runs at 30fps
In a previous update, Ubisoft promised that the game would run at 30fps on PS4. That’s good news, but what about the other consoles? There have been some disappointing rumors surrounding Valhalla’s performance. It seems as though Ubisoft may have dropped the resolution in order to keep the game running at 60fps. This isn’t surprising considering that the game was designed for high-end consoles.
The game is expected to be shorter and smaller than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which was critically acclaimed but also criticized for its length and bloat. The game is due for an update on Tuesday that will add support for improved frame rates. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is part of the Assassin’s Creed reboot saga, and will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Kingdom Hearts 3 runs at 60fps
The frame rate of Kingdom Hearts 3 is capped at 30 fps by default, but you can change it if you want. Setting the resolution to 1080p and turning off supersampling will fix the performance issue. The performance is still poor, though: there is noticeable judder and less responsive controller. Fortunately, Square Enix labeled the option “Stable.”
While Kingdom Hearts 3 looks great in 1080p, it doesn’t look as good on PS4 Pro. It can’t support 4K with HDR, and you’ll likely have to use your PS4’s 1080p output mode to play the game. If your PS4 Pro can’t support this, force it to 1080p on your HD TV. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to sacrifice quality for the sake of performance.
Both of the above games were released on January 25 and were critical failures. The Resident Evil 2 remake wasn’t fine-tuned properly and didn’t include a capped-30-fps mode. Kingdom Hearts 3 has serious technical problems. A review by Digital Foundry found that the game runs poorly on PS4 – its textures look choppy and the edges are ragged.
Demon’s Souls remake runs at 60fps
While demos of the new remake are still under wraps, some information has emerged. A PlayStation Blog post from last month revealed that the game runs in dynamic 4K at 60fps, while others claim that the game runs in 30fps in Cinematic mode. Regardless of whether this is true or not, it’s clear that the remake has been designed for fast loading and high visual fidelity.
Nearly every From Software game on next-gen consoles is a 60-frames-per-second affair. The game has become the best-received launch title on either console, and many players are checking out other titles by the Japanese developer. And while most of its games received a performance boost from the hardware upgrade, Demon’s Souls may be the best.
Despite these benefits, the game’s framerate can still be affected. The PS4 Pro version supports the same unofficial patches that were released for Dark Souls. The graphical enhancements are especially noticeable in Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne. However, there is no news about a sequel or DLC for this game. But if you’re a fan of the original Demon’s Souls, you can now enjoy it at full 60fps on PS4!
