Optimus Prime’s death
In Revenge of the Fallen, Optimus Prime kills the evil Decepticon known as The Demolisher. Fallen’s death is blamed on Optimus and all the Transformers, and his death in the movie is extremely brutal. Prime cuts off Fallen’s face, stabs him in the neck, and destroys his spark core. This is the first time an Autobot has killed a Decepticon.
While the storyline of this movie leaves us wondering about Optimus Prime’s death, it is important to realize that the character can still live a life after death. Unlike other Transformers and humans, Optimus Prime can die from natural causes, or from a malfunctioning AllSpark. The IDW continuity has explored the mythology of the 13 Primes, but there are still a lot of continuities in the story.
Sam resurrects him
The film begins with Sam searching for the glasses of his great-grandfather. As he searches for the glasses, he is accosted by government agents who threaten to send him to jail for life. The government agents then reveal that Mikaela has a criminal history. Prime intercepts the government agents and leads them to a hideout under a bridge, where he battles Starscream to save them.
Megatron goes after Sam and kills Optimus Prime, but Sam manages to escape. In the meantime, he finds a long-hidden Transformer in the shape of a jet. The jet guy reveals to Sam that he has the technology to resurrect Optimus. Megatron, who swears vengeance, sends Sam and Michaela scurrying for their lives.
Reno Wilson as Mudflap
In this action-adventure, Reno Wilson stars as Autobot infiltrator Mudflap. Wilson transforms into a red 2007 Chevrolet Trax to help the Autobots stop the Fallen. Other characters in the film include Calvin Wimmer as Demolishor, who transforms into a red Terex excavator. He also appears as Scalpel, a microscope. Prime #1 and Prime #2 are played by Michael York and Reno Wilson. The movie’s other notable characters are Rampage, who transforms into a red Caterpillar D9T bulldozer and Blue 2009 Chevrolet Volt, and Sideways, a Decepticon surveillance agent.
After battling with Skids, Mudflap and Bumblebee, Mudflap and Skids arrive at the Tomb of the Primes. Bumblebee throws them out, and Mudflap and Skids accompany Simmons and Leo to the Sun Harvester. Mudflap and Skids fight the Devastator. They both fight him, but ultimately fail.
John DiCrosta as Scalpel
In the first season of The Transformers, John DiCrosta plays Scalpel, a Decepticon doctor. He saved Bludgeon from human captivity and has Insecticon and Lensmeter assistants. Scalpel has a unique skill: he can repair Decepticons with his AllSpark Shard. The movie has a great premise: Optimus Prime is trying to save the planet from the Fallen, but the Decepticons’ greatest weapon is the Optimus Primes.
The movie has received mixed reviews. Some critics panned its crude humor and offensive racial stereotypes, while others praised the visual effects. In the U.S., the movie was released on June 24. It was nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards. While some critics panned its storyline, others praised the performances of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.
IDW comics have teased his death
In recent IDW comics, we’ve been teased with news of Optimus Prime’s death in revenge of the fallen. The character would be replaced by another toy in the series, and he would come back in a new body, albeit with a different personality. We also learned that the character would be killed off in the series and that numerous memorials would be built for him.
While the news was exciting, it was equally upsetting. The announcement of the death of Optimus Prime was met with a lot of fanfare. Fans were not prepared for the comics’ ominous tone. However, fans were given ample time to get used to the idea. The Death of Optimus Prime one-shot was due out in December, and the new series is set to begin in January.
