It was in 2012 when Russ Berrie promised that the company would launch a second generation of Shining Star toys, but this did not happen by the end of 2013. As of January 2016, the company does not exist anymore. Rather than discontinue the brand, Russ donated $1 million to a performing arts center at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. The center is named the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing Arts.
