HM05 is a Hidden Machine
HM05 is a Hidden Machine in the game Soul Silver. It’s a tool that can teach a Pokemon a move. These moves are called HM moves, because they cannot be forgotten, even after your Pokemon has learned them. These machines are incredibly useful for training your Pokemon’s moves and can be used in battles for many different reasons. These machines can be purchased at the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console service, which allows you to learn new moves without having to purchase them from the game’s shop.
The HM05 is the first HM in the game that a Gym Leader can give out. However, it’s not the only Hidden Machine in the game. Other Hidden Machines, like HM02, have only been found in the first generation of the game. Its field functions are disabled in the Pokemon Brick Bronze game, and in Soul Silver, it becomes a TM70.
It affects Accuracy
As the name suggests, Flash lowers the target’s Accuracy by one stage. This is a good thing, as accuracy is an important stat in the game. However, some Pokemon cannot be affected by this effect. For example, a Pokemon with Keen Eye, Clear Body, or White Smoke will not have their accuracy reduced. Similarly, a Normalium Z Pokemon that has 70% accuracy is not affected by Flash, because the normalium Z turns into a Z-Flash and increases its Evasiveness by one stage.
It illuminates caves
It is not always easy to find the Light Flash outside of battle, but if you know how to use it properly, you’ll be able to spot darkened caves in no time. Flash comes in handy in more places than one in the game, but in particular, it’s useful on the Victory Road, near the end of your journey through Johto. Without it, you’ll have a difficult time navigating the game, especially in the later stages of the game.
It heals Pidgeotto for half its health
The Hyper Potion can be found in an indentation in the rocks east of Ecruteak. This item is the first of its kind in Soul Silver. The Potion will heal your Pidgeotto for half its health, so be sure to use it as often as possible. It will also be helpful if you’re having trouble getting rid of some of your enemies’ powerful Pokemon.
The downside of Pidgeot is that it lacks viable movepools and bulk. While it can be used in a defensive team, it is outclassed by set-up Pokemon that can switch into Pidgeot’s team. For instance, if you want to use Thunderbolt on Pidgeot, you can switch in Rotom, which can OHKO the Pidgeotto with Thunderbolt.
It’s a TM 70
It’s easy to get HM05 – Flash. Just go to Pewter City, Route 2 and Sprout tower, then you’ll find the TM70. You can also find it at Goldenrod Department Store, but it’s not necessary for the first way. Alternatively, you can beat the elder in sprout tower and get the TM. Then, you can move on to the second way.
It’s a HM slave
While a Kabutops will make an excellent HM slave in Soul Silver, a Linoone will do better in the early game. Compared to the two, Linoone learns Cut, Rock Smash, and Surf, which are all good battle moves. Rock smash is a great early-game obstacle, while surf can help your party members survive on their own. If you’re still unsure about which Pokemon to get, consider Lugia.
The HM Slave is useful for Hidden Machines, and it can move twice as fast as other Pokemon while surfing. Also, you no longer need the HM02 Fly to perform Soar Over Hoenn, so the Eon Flute will do. In addition, your Zigzagoon will evolve into a linoone, and the Obstagoon will cost you 100 candies.
