The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 31
As previously reported, The Rise of Skywalker will be available digitally on March 17 and on physical media on March 31. This film marks the final installment in the Skywalker saga and is directed by J.J. Abrams. There have been leaks about a 4K Blu-ray box set, but this one looks to be even better. Here are some of the highlights of the new release:
The DVD and Blu-ray editions of The Rise of Skywalker will contain a feature-length making-of documentary, as well as exclusive featurettes and behind-the-scenes footage of the film. Additional bonus material includes a feature-length making-of documentary and behind-the-scenes details on the film’s Pasaana desert scenes. There are no director’s commentary, though.
Star Wars 8 will be available on a 20-foot-by-40-foot screen
The new Star Wars movie will be released on a 20-foot-by-40 foot screen on DVD and will be projected onto the giant screen, just like its predecessors. The quality of the film is perfect, making it the only version people will remember in a hundred years. It is the director’s prerogative to make a film as spectacular as possible.
The Last Jedi was released on Blu-ray on December 15
The Last Jedi is the third Star Wars film to have its own DVD and Blu-ray release. It premiered in Los Angeles on December 9 and was released in the United States on December 15. It has now earned over $1.3 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2017 and the ninth-highest film of all time. The film is also the second-highest grossing film in the franchise. The movie made $417 million in profit, making it one of the most profitable films of all time.
The Last Jedi is the eighth film in the main ‘Star Wars’ series and continues the story of the Skywalker family. Featuring the returning characters from the previous film, it follows the adventures of Finn, Rey, and Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill reprises his role as Luke Skywalker, while Daisy Ridley plays his former self. Newcomers John Boyega and Gwendoline Christie join Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in the new movie. The movie also stars Mark Hamill, Laura Dern, and Frank Oz.
The Last Jedi DVD contains a rap video with a dancing Yoda and clone troopers
In The Last Jedi, the clone troopers and rap video were inspired by the scene in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in which Mace Windu force-gripped General Grievous, crushing the chest panel of Grievous’ starfighter. The score by John Williams pays homage to Joel McNeely’s “Shadows of the Empire” book written in between Episodes V and VI. And, yes, the elevator scene is reminiscent of Luke falling out of the window in Episode V.
It’s not just the clone troopers who are raging on the streets of A New Hope. A rap video featuring a dancing Yoda and clone troopers was also released as an extra bonus on The Last Jedi DVD. Yoda was an experimental character when it first came on the scene in The Empire Strikes Back. But it wasn’t until that film that puppets worked with actors. And Yoda was so convincing that he became a favorite of the entire franchise.
The Story of Star Wars was a Walmart-exclusive DVD
This week, Lucasfilm revealed cover art for the Original Trilogy DVDs. Though the content of these DVDs isn’t great, they’ll definitely fill shelf space and help you complete your Star Wars collection. I’ll also give you my own take on the covers. Is this release worth the price? Let me know in the comments. I hope you enjoy them! Let’s take a look!
The Story of Star Wars is the fourth Disney movie released on DVD, and it is the first one to feature all four original movies. It contains a brief synopsis of each movie, and the DVDs are only available in the US. It is a great collection to own, but I’m not as excited as a child. The discs are more expensive than their Blu-ray counterparts.
