Iceland

The second Star Wars movie to partly be shot in Iceland is Rogue One. The snow planet scenes in The Force Awakens were shot in Iceland, and this same country was used in Interstellar, Prometheus, and Thor, too. Maldives

The famous Cardington Airfield was used for filming scenes in “Star Wars: A New Hope” and “Rogue One.” The RAF re-used this location for a few more Star Wars films, but after the acquisition of Lucasfilm Ltd. by The Walt Disney Company in 2012, the film crews took great care in choosing their locations. In the film “Rogue One,” the crew used a lens similar to the one used in the 1959 movie Ben Hur. It was part of the ’70s-like look that the crew wanted to achieve.

Pinewood Studios

Star Wars Rogue One was filmed at Pinewood Studios, which was located in Hertfordshire, England. The movie is set on a tropical planet called Scarif, which is the home of the Imperial base.
