Where was Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker filmed? If you’re a movie fan, you’re probably curious where the film was filmed. The locations that were used include Death Valley National Park, Wadi Rum, Malin Head, and Skellig Michael.

Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park is located in the California-Nevada desert and was used for five different scenes in the popular Star Wars franchise. The desert features sand dunes, salt flats, and desert canyons that simulated the harsh environment of Tatooine. While the locations for the movie are not marked, you can walk around and view them. You can even find some Jawas carrying R2D2 in one of the scenes.

Wadi Rum

When putting together the location for the new Star Wars movie, George Lucas took inspiration from another sci-fi movie, Dune. The desert planet Arrakis is similar to Tattooine, but Wadi Rum is huge enough to accommodate both. It also offers a picturesque backdrop for the desert city of Jakku. Malin Head

If you’ve been following the Star Wars films, you’ve probably noticed that Malin Head in Northern Ireland is one of the most famous film locations. It is the northernmost point of Ireland and was selected to appear in the last Jedi movie, starring Harrison Ford. The town of Malin Head, along with Skellig Michael in Kerry, has been transformed into a film set. Mark Hamill, the star of the movie, sent a special message to the people of Ireland and the filming took place in May 2016. He even visited the local pubs to hang out with the Irish public, notably the Daisey Ridley, to get a feel for the local culture and history.

Skellig Michael

Skellig Michael, Ireland, is a small island in the North Atlantic that was the setting for a large part of the filming of the Star Wars series. The island was also used to film the scenes of the Rebellion saga, such as Luke Skywalker training Kira at a Jedi temple on Ahch-To. It was also the filming location for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was released in December 2015.

Tunisia

If you are a Star Wars fan, you may be interested to know that Tunisia was the location for the filming of the prequel trilogy. Besides the desert location, the film was also shot in the town of Tozeur, where the construction crew transformed the ruins of a fortified granary into the Mos Espa slave quarters. Another location used during filming was the salt flats of Chott el Jerid, which were used to film scenes of land speeders. Although filming was not filmed on Tatooine, George Lucas returned to the country for the prequel trilogy, The Phantom Menace.

Petra
