In this week’s college basketball game, there were plenty of determining factors in who won the Duke-Louisville game. The Cardinals led by 10 points at halftime and outrebounded the Blue Devils 41-33. Louisville forced Duke to settle for a field goal, and held them to zero offensive rebounds in the first half. Louisville hung tough in the second half. Even without star freshman David Johnson, the Cardinals were able to play with a lot of energy and close the gap to only two points at the halftime buzzer. The Cardinals’ only scoring chances came in overtime, where Quinn Slazinski scored five points in just two minutes. However, Duke’s defense gave up on that chance and went down to the floor without an answer.
The Cards outscored the Blue Devils 57-42. Duke had three players score in double figures, but the Cardinals held their ground in the second half. After a shaky start, Duke got a chance to rally. But it was not enough to overcome Louisville’s strong defensive play. The Cardinals’ defense defended the Blue Devils’ defenders and made them fumble a few times.
As a result, Louisville was able to score in overtime and won, but Duke was not able to stop the Cardinals in regulation. But, despite missing Johnson, the Cardinals still prevailed in the game. Jae’Lyn Withers scored nine points in the first half and had a team-high 23 points. Regardless of the outcome, the Cards have a strong team, and the players are hungry to win.
Louisville won the Duke-Louisville game despite scoring only seven points in the first half. The Cardinals were able to score the first touchdown but ultimately had a tough time getting the ball back. In the second half, the Cards were able to make several key plays. Matthew Hurt had a career-high 37 points, but failed to convert his three-point attempt. The Cardinals were unable to stop Louisville’s last-half push, but were able to come up with a late TD.
The Cardinals had a hard time stopping the Blue Devils. Both teams have had a strong start to the season, but they were unable to sustain their momentum.
