Why Can’t I Use Incantations in Elder Ring?

In the first game, Faith-based spells were limited to healing and buffs, and dealt damage to Undead. Now, Incantations function much like Miracles in Dark Souls 3 and allow players to increase their healing, combat options, and exploration. In order to cast Incantations, players must have a special Class and a Seal. If you are unable to find one, check out the list below.

Sacred Seals are required to cast Incantations

Sacred Seals are Weapons used by Elden Ring characters. Each Sacred Seal has a specific stat associated with it and cannot be given new Ashes of War or armament buffs. Sacred Seals can be found on corpses and dropped from enemies in Volcano Manor, the Minor Erdtree Church site of grace, and on the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave. They can also be found in the basement section of the West Capital Rampart site of grace, along with enemy Fire Monks.

Sacred Seals require investment in faith, which can be a bit difficult to come by in the early stages. However, the initial investment will pay off because the first seal should be easy to find, but you might want to increase your faith stat if you plan to focus on a certain incantation. You can also power stance with another sacred seal and off-hand it to get its benefits.

They damage large groups

There are many reasons why the Beast Claw is one of the best Incantations in the Elden Ring. It does massive damage and is fast to cast. The ability to charge up the damage of this skill allows you to deal massive amounts of damage to large groups. The Beast Claw is a powerful AOE attack that swipes a large cone of claws at nearby enemies. This incantation can be charged to increase its damage and range. It requires completion of the Gurranq questline to obtain.

While the Incantation is effective for large groups, it isn’t the most effective spell for damage-per-second. The spell scales off Faith, which is a valuable investment in the Elden Ring. High Faith is needed to use the “Prophet” class, which provides great Healing bonuses. Unlike the Priest class, the Incantation builds damage large groups more reliably than other classes.

They heal large groups

The Incantations in Elder Ring are fantastic, but it’s hard to compare them to Sorceries because the former focuses on direct damage and inflicting ailments, while the latter are scattered across the board. A group-wide heal-over-time effect is difficult to compare to a mutant shoulder tackle. Luckily, there are ways to combine these two powerful spells, including combining them with talismans like Ritual sword or shield.

Basic heals fill the same role, but with different tradeoffs. Regen healing, for example, is fixed at 720 HP and does not scale with equipment or stats. Blessing’s Boon, on the other hand, heals 720 HP and requires 30 FP, while Blessing of the Erdtree provides the same amount of HP for twice as much, with double the urgency.

They imbue weapons with an element

An Incantation is a spell that gives a weapon an elemental property. These effects change the weapon’s type from nonmagical to magic. They can deal fire, acid, or cold damage, or even lightning and thunder. These effects give the weapon a +1 bonus on attack rolls, and they increase damage when hit by one or more of its type. A weapon that gains an elemental property has an additional damage bonus, and the bonus is centered on the target. This effect is suppressed if the creature doesn’t breathe, or if the recipient stops breathing as a free action.

In addition, an Incantation may overwrite an enchantment that already exists on a weapon. If you cast an Incantation with a different element than the weapon’s, the weaker enchantment will overwrite the stronger one. A Mystic Knight can use two of the Five Archmagicks at the same time. However, it’s not possible to stack more than one at a time.
