Eight Mile is a biopic of Eminem’s life, loosely based on his own life. The film also follows the lives of Eminem’s gay co-worker, Jimmy Smith, Jr. (Future). He believes that Rabbit has great potential and often makes decisions without consulting him. The movie also contains many rapping contests, including a freestyle rap contest where Future defends his gay co-worker.

Like his brother, Mekhi was raised by his single mother, Rhoda. She discouraged her son and his peers from engaging in illegal activities. He started working odd jobs at the age of thirteen.
In addition to starring alongside Eminem in the film, Phifer has acted in many other movies and television shows.
