Why Isn’t Lando in the New Star Wars Movies?

Why isn’t Lando in the new Star Wars movies? Is it because Lucasfilm is afraid that he will become too popular? He was the replacement for Harrison Ford six months after he died, but a sequel might confuse audiences. While diehard Star Wars fans would understand that there is no continuity between the Lando movies, casual moviegoers won’t get it. So why not give us a Lando movie with his own story?

Lando Calrissian is a Rebel Alliance general

The new Star Wars movies bring us Lando Calrissian, the suave and cocky adversary of Han Solo. Before he became a general for the Rebel Alliance, Lando lived a variety of lives. He was a gambler and smuggler who eventually ended up as Baron Administrator of Cloud City. Lando was a multifaceted character and his early years remain largely unexplored in the canon Star Wars universe. During the Star Wars Rebels series, he was portrayed by Billy Dee Williams.

After being promoted to General in the Rebel Alliance military in Return of the Jedi, Lando helps Luke and Han Solo escape from Jabba the Hutt. He also pilots the Millennium Falcon along with his co-pilot Nien Nunb, and helps to destroy the Second Death Star. Although he does not have the rank of Grand Admiral, Lando has an impressive list of accomplishments, and his efforts in saving Han Solo have made him an icon of the Star Wars universe.

He’s a crime lord nemesis

The character of Lando Calrissian, a former stormtrooper, is an intriguing new addition to the Star Wars universe. First introduced in Marvel Comics’ Star Wars: Empire of the Wanted comics series, Lando has a crime lord nemesis named Drebble. During the comics, Lando uses Drebble’s name as his cover identity. The purpose of doing this was to keep Drebble out of harm’s way. But Drebble’s exploits are now being recognized by the Rebellion, which means that Lando must give him an award.

Lando’s heist involved the Emperor’s yacht Imperialis, whose cargo was stolen by Pathfinders. The gang subsequently sacrificed an ancient droid, but the rebel fleet found out about the droid. When Lando and Lobot returned to the Imperial Centrality Navy, C-3PO discovered that the droid’s cognitive functions and memory banks were corrupted. He tried to repair the droid’s brain and memory banks, but Lando was able to reactivate it with the help of the Lobot.

He’s a hero in the Empire’s defeat

While he has limited screentime in the first two films, Lando is an important part of the story. The Empire Strikes Back introduces many new characters that will help build the Star Wars universe. Lando Calrissian is one such character. He is the owner of the Millennium Falcon and is introduced to Han Solo and Princess Leia in Cloud City. He also meets C-3PO and Chewbacca and has varying levels of interaction with the characters throughout the movie.

The plot of the first film features Lando as an anti-hero. Lando is a former Jedi and has fought alongside Luke Skywalker and the Resistance. He is not Force-sensitive and does not benefit from the call to the Light Side like his friends Han and Luke do. The character also lacks a beautiful honey like Leia does. But, Lando’s character in the movie will have many fans.

He’s canonically pansexual

The question of whether Lando is canonically pansexual in the Star Wars franchise is a contested one, since no character in the films is explicitly heterosexual. While it’s tempting to see Lando as gay, that would be a lazy attempt at addressing the issue. It also would be inappropriate to make Lando a “heterosexual” character because it would be anti-Catholic.

While Lando was never explicitly designated as gay or bisexual, the actor who played him, Donald Glover, played up the character’s sexuality in the 2014 film Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, in the same year that the film was released, Glover confirmed that Lando was queer, despite the film not being canon. Despite this, Lando has been considered a pansexual character by fans, and his likeness is used in numerous other media involving Star Wars.

He’s a complex character

If you’re a Star Wars fan and have been asking yourself “Why isn’t Lando in the new Star Wars?”, you’re not alone. This question has been haunting fans since the release of the first film. While Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed whether Lando will return to the franchise, Donald Glover has been linked to the role. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Glover answered the question “I’m not sure.” While he didn’t explicitly deny it, his answer doesn’t confirm that he’s involved in the new Star Wars film. Regardless, if it’s true, there are some serious problems with Lucasfilm’s decision. There’s so much potential to be had and unresolved plot threads from Solo that need to be resolved.

For one, Lando’s character was cut from The Rise of Skywalker due to a lack of time and budget. While the character’s fate was not predetermined, there was no telling how much space he would have taken up. His absence is also likely to cause some controversy. Fans have been clamoring for Lando’s return to the franchise since it was announced.
