The artifact power system in World of Warcraft was one such example. In this system, every point costed multiple times what it cost before. As a result, the amount of power a player could earn from using an artifact was compressed. This resulted in a sticky mouse trap that made it difficult for players to get ahead.

In the previous Patch 7.1, World of Warcraft artifact power was determined by a player’s class and specialization. A catch-up mechanism in World of Warcraft improved the process for alts. The World of Warcraft team has announced a massive “hotfix” that will lower the Artifact Knowledge cap to 40 from 50. This is a change for players who have a strong focus on legendaries.
