World of Warcraft has four capital cities: Dalaran, Boralus, and Sunfury Spire. Here’s a look at why you should visit each of them. You can also learn more about the factions that rule these cities. The names and descriptions below give you a general idea of what to expect in each city. Just remember that these cities are not part of the game itself, but they are important in the game’s lore.

Boralus
A pleasant harbor and friendly citizens are just some of the things that make Boralus one of the world of warcraft’s capital cities. You’ll also notice that the citizens of Boralus carry long knives to kill naga and murlocs. The harbor is patrolled by a fleet of boats from Kul Tiras, which is a nation in its own right. Merchants from other nations will frequently stop in Boralus for supplies. The climate is relatively temperate, though it can be subject to sudden storms. It’s windy, too, so it’s recommended that you use a boat if you can. Boralus is also populated with murlocs and pirates, but it has few forest creatures.
Boralus’s harbor is guarded by iron-reinforced locks and cannons that prevent ill-intentioned ships from entering. You can even see great galleons berthed in the harbor, though they don’t appear to be a part of the Kul Tiras naval force. However, you won’t be able to see them until you complete the quest line in Tiragarde Sound.
Dalaran
There are many ways to travel between Dalaran and the other World of Warcraft capital cities. You can purchase flights from flight masters located in Shattrath and Krasus’ Landing to get around the area. You can also choose to jump from the edge of Dalaran or the Underbelly tunnel. But be aware that jumping from the edge of the city will kill you. Another option is to hire a mage to set up a portal to get out of Dalaran.
While Dalaran is smaller than other major cities, its sheer number of objects and NPCs causes a lot of lag. Because of this, your PC has to load several details at once. In WotLK, players were complaining about this lag and dubbed Dalaran “Lagaran”.
The Violet Citadel
The Violet Citadel is a beautiful city located in Dalaran, World of Warcraft. It has the Grand Library and Arcane Vault, containing some of Dalaran’s most powerful artifacts. It was once the home of Teron Gorefiend, who stole the Eye of Dalaran from the Library and killed Sathera. It is also where Rhonin, the leader of the Kirin Tor, leads his army against the blue dragonflight. It is also where the Kirin Tor quartermaster is located on an upper level directly behind the four leaders.
The Violet Citadel can be accessed via the portals in both the Alliance and Horde capital cities. There are also new class trainers and auctioneers in Kirin Tor. The Citadel was once home to two Alliance-aligned wizard-factions, the Mages’ Guild and the Sorcerers’ League. During The Third War, the Citadel was home to the Mages’ Guild and the Mages’ League.
Sunfury Spire
The Sunfury Spire is the royal palace of the Silvermoon City. The palace is part of the Court of the Sun and contains the Inner Sanctum. The Sunfury Spire was once ruled by High King Anasterian Sunstrider, and is now ruled by Regent Lord Lor’themar Theron. The city has royal guards, mage and priest trainers, and portals.
You can travel to the Sunfury Spire from Silvermoon City by using the orb of translocation. This teleportation is easy to do, as the portal is in the center of the Silvermoon City. You can also travel to Sunfury Spire from the Inner Sanctum. A teleport to Sunfury Spire will take you to the Inner Sanctum in Silvermoon City, where you can find the Orb of Translocation.
Orgrimmar
The entrance gates of Orgrimmar, the capital city of the Orcs, have become a defining feature of the city. One player decided to recreate the gates in the Unreal Engine, creating both the interior and exterior of the gate. Fans cannot believe this gate was created in just one day! And now you can, too! Check out this video and see what you’ve been missing!
Orgrimmar is a city that serves as a trading and cultural hub for the Alliance. It also contains the SI:7 Institute and Academy of Arcane Sciences. The city is also home to the Orcs, who settled there as nomads. They named their capital city after their founder, Orgrim Doomhammer. He was the first Warchief of the Horde, and the armor that he wore was from the legendary warlord Mannoroth.
