Samwise Didier
Samwise Didier, a senior art director for Blizzard Entertainment, has been a part of the game development team for over two decades. As such, his style and vision are integral to Blizzard titles, from Warcraft to Diablo III. Aside from his work as an art director for the World of Warcraft franchise, Didier is also the lead singer of the Blizzard employee metal band, Elite Tauren Cheiftain.
Didier’s work has also appeared in the video game series Heroes of the Storm, where he creates artwork for the new class, Greymane. He is a fan of pandas and has an incredibly heavy obsession with them. His nickname, “Panda,” comes from Didier’s brother accidentally referring to him as a panda bear, although he intended to call him a polar bear. He also created the pandaren, a race that originally had been regarded by many fans as a joke. As a result, panda bear icons are featured throughout the game. Not only do they appear in his concept art, but they also appear on the night elf demon hunters’ warglaives.
The Jailer
Creating the Lich King was a difficult task. Several factors were crucial, such as Zovaal’s omniscience, but his creation is unique and memorable. Zovaal was based on the myths of ancient Egypt and the Maw, and his creation may have been inspired by the creations of his rivals in Warhammer: Arkhan the Black or Tolkien’s Witch-King of Angmar. The name Zovaal is a mixture of Bulgarian and Polish words, including zova and zobam.
The Jailer was once known as Zovaal. He ruled the realm of Azeroth with the Winter Queen and Archon, and he served as the arbiter, judging the mortal souls and sending them to the appropriate afterlife. He was disillusioned by the First Ones’ design and sought to bring the world together. In the end, he was stopped by heroes who pursued him into Korthia, where he was defeated.
Sire Denathrius
One of the many intriguing new characters in World of Warcraft is Sire Denathrius. This vampiric warlord, incalculably old, rules the Venthyr people from his castle in the Shadowlands. The Afterlives short reveals a Venthyr realm that is more like a real kingdom. While Sire Denathrius’ mission remains unclear, he is charming and capable of great cruelty.
As Master of Revendreth, Sire Denathrius is interested in making sure that the citizens of the realm prosper. This is why he has instituted a questline to find out who the champions of Azeroth are. However, as you play the game, the true nature of Denathrius will likely become known. But the question remains, how can we be sure that our new champion will protect our world?
Lord Serpentis
The druid Lord Serpentis is a night elf. He is the leader of the Druid of the Fang, and he has three abilities: a lightning bolt, the ability to sleep, and a healing touch. He is joined by two other characters: Illidan Stormrage, a former night elf and a demon currently. He is a powerful sorcerer who was once a night elf. However, after his betrayal, he was labeled as a demon. A male Orc named Mankrik is also a member of the Druid of the Fang.
In the battle for Azeroth, there is another iconic character – the Quillboar. The name of the quest was revealed at Blizzard’s World of Warcraft launch, and was immediately followed by the battle for Azeroth concept art. Despite being an ally to the Horde, the Lord Serpentis has a shaman appearance, and his axe-guitar-bone weapon is legendary.
Kael’thas Sunstrider as a blood elf
Among the new lore in World of Warcraft is the idea of a blood elf raid boss. The idea was inspired by the blood elf character Kael’thas Sunstrider, who has appeared in some of the game’s concept art. Kael’thas was the protagonist of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and the antagonist in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. However, he returned as a supporting character in the expansion, Shadowlands.
Kael’thas had feelings for Jaina Proudmoore, and they later encountered a pair of night elves who had been following Illidan Stormrage for three days. Kael accepted their offer to help track down Illidan, but was repelled by Maiev’s thought it was a waste of time. After helping the night elves, Kael’thas then made his way back to Silvermoon, where he met with the naga Lady Vashj.
