Table of Contents
Battle for Azeroth
After the release of the War of Thorns scenario, the next chapter of World of Wars is now on the event calendar. The new content will be released on August 14, and there are already plenty of reasons to be excited. In addition to the new content and rewards, the next chapter of the War of Thorns will also bring zone changes and the destruction of Brill. Also, digital copies of two novellas, The Old Soldier and Elegy, have been made available on Blizzard’s website. Another new feature is the release of the newest cinematic, “The World of Warcraft” with a special focus on the demon hunter Zappy Boi and his adventures in the Borean Tundra. Additionally, during the Noblegarden, a new character, the Troll, will be introduced.
Another major feature of Battle for Azeroth is the introduction of new gear and items. There is no longer the artifact weapon, but there is the Heart of Azeroth, a neck-slot item that levels up as you collect artifact power. Azerite armor has three slots and mini-talent trees for effects. Once you have three, you’ll be able to equip tiers of azerite armor.
Iron Horde Incursion
The Iron Horde has finally made their way to the Blasted Lands, the final stop of their invasion. The Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands has turned blood red, and a number of quests are available in a level 90 only phase of the Blasted Lands. The Blasted Lands will be changed by the invasion, so players need to be prepared for anything.
The questline for this raid will consist of two new content areas: the Shattered Beachhead and the Blasted Lands. To gain access to the Iron Horde Incursion, players must complete two new quests: Ending Executions and Investigating the Invasion. The former task requires players to head northwest and investigate the Incursion, while the latter asks players to go behind enemy lines. For Lunatic Lieutenants, players will need to travel to Nethergarde to plant flags and rally troops. This task will reward a blue ilevel 515 necklace.
Micro-holiday events
Blizzard has announced a series of new World of Warcraft micro-holidays for 2019. These short-lived in-game events will give players a chance to celebrate their favorite holidays without having to spend large amounts of time on them. While there are no real rewards associated with these events, they add a little bit of variety to the game. Blizzard is hoping that these new holiday events will be a hit with players.
The first World of Warcraft micro-holiday event took place on March 17, 2018. This event saw players flocking to the Un’Goro crater for three days of targeted monster hunting. Players who managed to stop the dinosaur rampage were rewarded with a temporary evolution buff. Eventually, the micro-holidays will expand to offer more fun activities. And with more events in the works, there are many more opportunities for players to experience these unique holidays.
World Championship Series Global Finals
The World Championship Series Global Finals took place in Anaheim, California this year, part of BlizzCon 2018. The tournament started off with a group stage, which took place the previous week during BlizzCon Opening Week. Then, in the bracket play, the twelve best teams competed for $1 million in prize money. In addition to the main event, there were qualifiers in various locations around the world.
The StarCraft II World Championship Series is the final competition of the entire World Cup Series. Players qualified for the StarCraft II World Championship Series by winning one of seven tournaments and earning WCS points in multiple events and leagues. The top eight players will compete in the Global Finals. The event calendar 2018 contains more information about each event. A complete listing of all World Championship Series events can be found on the official site of the eSports organization.
