Horde Red
Mountain Dew is releasing two new flavors of its popular soft drink in honor of World of Warcraft. The first one, Alliance Blue, is a wild fruit flavor. The second, Horde Red, is a citrus cherry flavor. The drinks will be available for purchase starting June 15th, and supplies are limited. They will be available for purchase until 8/20/09.
There are two flavors of Mountain Dew Game Fuel available, Alliance Blue and Horde Red. Both flavors have the taste of wild fruit and represent opposing factions in World of Warcraft. While the drink may sound like an unlikely choice, it’s a great way to support the game. The limited-edition bottles feature a variety of art featuring the Orc and Night Elf as well as the MTN DEW logo.
Electrifying Berry
Whether you play World of Warcraft or not, there’s no denying that you’ve seen the advertisements for the new Game Fuel drink. It’s the same orange-cherry beverage that many consumers are used to, but with a unique flavor. It seems that the company was trying to get players to buy its drink, and the new flavor has taken off. Here are a few of the other drinks from Game Fuel that you can buy at the market.
In July 2009, the game fuel brand launched a new flavor called “Electrifying Berry” to promote World of Warcraft. Citrus Cherry, a fruit-flavored soda, was also released in October to promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Eventually, the company rebranded the drink to match the new game, renaming it “Tropical” for increased popularity.
Arctic Burst
Unlike Halo 3 Game Fuel, which only came in one flavor, World of Warcraft Game Fuel comes in two flavors, Horde Red and Alliance Blue. The two flavors feature designs inspired by Night Elf and Orc races, as well as the MTN DEW logo. Each bottle is a unique design, and will likely be sold in limited quantities, but consumers should still expect to see some interesting new flavors.
In 2006, Game Fuel released its Arctic Burst flavor as a Slurpee. Citrus Cherry made a comeback, and remained a popular flavor. Citrus Cherry, meanwhile, was not part of the promo. In 2016, the game fuel line was rebranded as Amp Game Fuel. The brand’s name was changed to reflect its new game-themed flavor. While this flavor isn’t as popular as the first, the reintroduced flavors have a loyal following.
Tropical Smash
In order to encourage people to drink more Mountain Dew, PepsiCo has teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment to bring gamers a new limited-edition beverage called World of Warcraft Game Fuel by Mountain Dew. The beverage comes in two flavors: cherry and wild fruit. Both flavors were rebranded to coincide with the release of World of Warcraft, an online MMORPG. The company says it will continue to support the game through advertising in the coming months.
Pepsi Beverages North America originally promoted World Of Warcraft on its Mt Dew Game Fuel in 2009. The campaign has since ended, but recent Call of Duty promotions have continued. And with Shadowlands coming up soon, PepsiCo could print Covenants on Game Fuels, which would allow consumers to earn points to buy exclusive Transmog gear or mounts. That would make PepsiCo’s marketing strategy seem even more lucrative.
