Katy Perry’s song E.T. is a tribute to the Draenei
The lyric “E.T.” is a parody of the film E.T., a song that has been performed by many musicians. This spoof song was released as the fourth single from Perry’s album Teenage Dream. The single version was remixed with verses from Kanye West. The song’s lyrics compare a lover to an extraterrestrial and portrays a relationship in which the lone lovebird is a pawn in a larger game.
Lady Gaga’s song Alexstrasza
The video game music choir has made a medley of songs from World of Warcraft and its expansions. Their first parody is “Rolling with Mad Deeps,” inspired by Adele’s song of the same name. Both songs are about over-focusing on dano or lacking focus in a fight. They also parody Lady Gaga’s song, “Alexstrasza.”
Glenn Stafford and Jason Hayes’ song A Call to Arms
The video game A Call to Arms features the track “Acall to Arms.” It was written by Glenn Stafford and made its debut in the Warcraft III cinematic trailer, and was later released as a standalone MP3 from the Warcraft III game website. Its lyrics were written in “rough Latin” and were intended to convey ideas and sounds. Its music is reminiscent of the hymns of the Christian church.

This summer, Katy Perry broke through as one of the biggest breakout acts. She performed at the Vans Warped Tour where she was an odd girl out among the punk bands. Her video for the song was shot in a single day and featured a few friends as co-stars. The video had a family feel and even contained an adorable doodle of an 8-year-old who wanted to tell her dad she loved him.
The troper heard the next line of the song as “this is the end”, “I’m going to blow your heads off” and interpreted it as “I’ll blow all your heads off”. While the lyric isn’t entirely accurate, it is amusing and sounded funny. Eventually, the troper decided to go with the incorrect interpretation.
