One way to avoid a watchdog in the Wyndham Catacombs is to get to the Site of Grace, which is located south-west of Mt. Gelmir, near the Mt. Gelmir marker. The entrance is behind the tallest ruined building. You can get to this location by heading west from Tibia Mariner. Once there, you should be able to see a large statue of a fallen angel.
