You might be wondering if Shurima is the next champion to join the ranks of League of Legends’ champions. The name and her origins are familiar to LoL fans, but you may not know much about the mysterious new part of the Shurima tribe. Here are some important details that you should know.

What is Shurima in League of Legends?

In League of Legends, Shurima is a continent occupied by the Shurima people. They once lived in a powerful empire that spanned the southern continent. After the failed Ascension of the last Shurima emperor, the empire collapsed, and the people were scattered throughout the continent. The mighty cities, now buried beneath sand, are now nothing more than ruins. The remaining Shurima citizens cling to the oases and fertile land along the coast.

Shurima’s most iconic landmark is the Sun Disc. Before the region was destroyed, Shurima was the vassal state of Icathia. However, the Void was too powerful for Icathia’s mages to control, and it destroyed the city. The Warrior Queen Setaka was one of the fallen. The Shurimans eventually had to leave the rebel region.

Shurima is also home to the vile Rek’Sai. The Rek’Sai is an incredibly vicious predator that stalks victims beneath the dunes of Shurima’s deserts. It was a cruel, unforgiving creature that once wiped out entire regions, and caravans have stayed away from its ravaged lands because of her.

Which champs are from Shurima?

The vast desert of Shurima was once home to an empire spanning the continent. Founded by the god warriors of the Ascended Host, the empire united the diverse peoples of the south and enforced a lasting peace. Rebellion was a rarity, and those who tried was crushed without mercy.

Shurima is home to ruins of the once-great Shuriman Empire. Its inhabitants included Ascended warriors and creatures of the Void. Its expansion Empires of the Ascended added a number of Shuriman champions, which can be picked up to help players take down their opponents.

The expansion will bring a number of new cards, champions, and keywords to the game, and will be released in June. More expansions will follow, and more champions will be added as they become available.
